I think the point is that TR didn't do anything to achieve that. In fact he's seemingly quite happy to ignore similar crimes if they're committed by his own supporters. He's not some kind of champion for the victims of grooming gangs. He's just pretending to be, as an excuse for being a racist

People need to be careful when attributing all these causes to some ism or other unless you can be sure all those you support are with honest intentions. If support for them is dismissed as a disguise for an ism, then only the 'ists' are going to be vocal, undermining the real issue.
This also enables those who claim discrimination when called out on their actions and perpetuates the sort of political sensitivity that dissuades authorities from investigating crimes.
Of course things are brushed under the carpet for other reasons, such as Savile's status and connections to the Conservative government but then you wouldn't call it a smear and undermine anyone who raised the alarm if that was purely for political reasons, although that was the claim made by many in defence of Jeremy Corbyn. So how you do view this situation when it's the other way round with politics defending racism?

Just so we're clear, social media posts by busybody neighbours sharing photos of black/ Asian/ Eastern Europe men who they suspect of a range of crimes from attempted kidnapping to burglary are entirely valid, even if it's xenophobia that arouses their suspicion, because there may genuinely be a crime involved, and they can be denounced for their racism entirely independently of the merits of their report?
