Lib Dem’s came second here, but reduced the Tory majority in a safe seat, and took all of labours big losses.

Already seeing some Flop Dem Maths on twitter where they're highlighting the labour votes in the seats they've lost and claiming they'd have won if labour hadn't taken their votes.

That's not how it works though!

I think she’s toast mate, a dreadful politician hopefully now consigned to history. What goes on in the LD party is a mystery to me, how on earth could they appoint her as leader and then allow her full reign to cripple their election chances at s time when they could’ve made gains. She basically took one big gamble and has paid the price. Good riddance.

I don't think her consitutency really understood what they were voting for. Best thing would to be have a second confirmatory vote, just to check that is the direction they wish to proceed. After all, nothing wrong with extra democracy.

Jo Swinsoff

Maybe Jo & Corbyn could do a job swap?

With their disdain for democracy & the level of bks they spout, would anyone really notice?

They did make gains though just not concentrated enough to turn it into seats. They made the most in terms of extra vote swing out of any party last night

Their support is too spread out to really have an impact. Look at the number of seats the SNP get with a much smaller share of the vote.

Indeed they did and as always their vote share does not transfer into seats, but that’s another issue that I presume St Nigel will be addressing when he attempts to make himself relevant again! I genuinely felt that they had an opportunity to make a big move this time, but they got it tragically wrong. Swinson has been a poor leader.

I thought she stood a chance until she decided she'd take a GE win as authority to veto Brexit. I voted remain but couldn't vote for that!

IIRC this policy was approved by the Lib Dems themselves so they must all shoulder the blame, but they still seem to be stuck with the ambition to make a few seats whilst voting for what makes them feel good.

It will be used to entrap Extinction Rebellion enthusiasts. Life-sized fly paper, if you will. Bring your own super glue.
