I can't believe Kevin Maquire of the Mirror honestly suggesting Ed did well tonight.
Astonishing.
This much used media luvvie on many TV channels always uses a positive slant with anything Labour Party related. SKY use him frequently for their nightly look at the newspapers. He often overdoes the slant as he tried to do tonight.Astonishing.
I did not think Ed Miliband did as badly as I had anticipated.
Someone earlier in this thread suggested Ed should have torpedoed JP with a comment on the lines of ~here's the actual post :~

How hard was that to say Ed? Would have left paxo looking like a right bully
Exactly that thought crossed my mind as I watched. He should have seen through Paxman's ploy and shafted it on the above lines. How hard was that to say Ed? Would have left paxo looking like a right bully
I had already decided not to vote for the Two Eds come May 7th and nothing I saw tonight will change that.
The poll of polls I saw today has the two major parties neck and neck as they approach the post to be first to pass.... I have a hunch it is not going to be that close and fully expect UK Independence Party to be a turn up for the books to upset the balance a tad or two. That based on my own personal poll speaking to a dozen or so folks.
Quite staggered by the sheer amount of denial that's been put out by leftists that seem to live on Twitter.
I think Miliband probably faired better with the audience than Cameron, but for god's sake his Paxo interview was a bloody car crash. Ok, he managed to get better for the last third, but ultimately Paxo stuffed him.
I guess that's why the initial ICM poll had it 56/46 to Cameron. Reading some of the guff out there, you'd actually think it was the other way around.
I watched on the +1 channel while reading this, Miliband wasn't half as bad as I expected from the comments on here!
Sure it was pretty lame, guess he'll pick up a bit of a sympathy vote due to Paxmans poor interview.
If only Paxman had asked proper questions of them both, rather than it being all about him, it would have been more productive..

The saviour of marxism cannot do wrong. He said (in another context) he's bringing it back to the UK, so all will be well.ukwill said:

It was a dreadful offering from Miliband. 56 to 44? Given the tribalism that muist be involved in supporting a Party that wrecks the economy and fails the people it sets out to help (obviously, they need to be kept dependent) it may not have been much different with the proverbial donkey with red rosette braying at Paxo.Food banks.
DC floundered which makes me doubt his thinking and that of his advisors.
Our local Green candidate wrote in the paper that the number of food banks was evidence of hardship.
My reply was that he was confusing supply and demand.
If I set up an iPad bank where I give them away for free, it proves that people are happy to have something for nothing.
Foodbanks have become the latest charity fashion. Maybe worthwhile but the jury is out on the economics.
DC should have had a better answer.

Exactly...as you say, the 'takers' in our society have cottoned onto another free givaway. Nobody in this country actually needs foodbanks.DC floundered which makes me doubt his thinking and that of his advisors.

I only saw the BBC news this morning and as usual Milliband came across as insincere and fake. The guy just can't think on his feet. He'd make a hopeless leader of the country just based on his personality
Correct, the first 30%-50% of his answers were just soundbite and media training.. then nothing. And normally this would be close to bullying, but if he wants to be the leader of the country and go up against other world leaders like Putin.. He needs to be able to take that ste and deal with it.. In this case I liked to see if as uncomfortable as possible with horrid questions to look into his eyes/body language and see what he was doing - There is no soul in that man, he just switches off and goes 'media mode engaged'.

When Cameron was saying how pro nhs is he is due to his childrens health problems . paxman could of questioned why he's now destroying a serice he claims to of got so much from.
Dirty and below the belt yes, but if that's how you question one party then that's how you should question all the leaders.

I agree. I'd actually thought of the answer as well whilst he was thinking about avoiding it.
The increase in charity shops does not mean that people cannot afford to pay for things, it is proof that they can afford to give away things for free!

He would have been absolutely mauled by both Paxo and the liberal press had he deigned to suggest that food banks were meeting an unnecessary need. Efforts to shake the 'Nasty Party' image would have evaporated before his very eyes.

Another way of looking at it is that roughly 30% of the electorate are completely or fairly firm for each of the 2 majors and so will always think their leader did best.Take those out and it is 26-14, i.e. 65% to 35% amongst those that could be influenced (and those who are likely to vote for other parties).
