But unwittingly, your question says quite a lot about you; you care about being 'respected' by a bunch of nobodies? That's probably the saddest thing ever. I'll take a stab in the dark here; you are very old, aren't you?
I'm sure you house share with Eddie, but the difference between you two is he's mildly amusing.

So you think the Tories are far right do you.
Here is a clue for you:

-3 Far Right.......... -2 Right......... -1 Centre Right.......... 0 Centre.......... +1 Centre Left.......... +2 Left.......... +3 Far Left.

The3 Cameron/Osborne Tories were around -1. The Maybot mess is around -2 (with a smattering of +2 economic po0licies to show how confused they are).
Subjective, arbitrary, not definitive.

Hi stalker.

Unlike you, I don't really care about what people on the obscure part of motoring forum think about me. So when I say I don't, I mean I don't.
I do understand why someone desperate for others to agree with him (her?) would think otherwise.

So why do you post so much? You must be pushing your vitriol for some reason; if not to be agreed with or respected for your opinion then why?
Free entertainment.

Hmm. My age is no secret, been mentioned on many a thread around here.

Is it even possible to be respected by a nobody? Not that I would care if I were or not. Least of all if it's you.

Let me make some assumptions about you. You're not very old and have a naive, but short to medium term personal vested interest in the UK remaining in the EU, regardless of the long term consequences.

I haven't seen that answer before. Is it a new addendum to the "How to answer points on the internet" guide?

I would say that the Tories are centre right, Lib dems centre left, Labour Left (with a strong centre-left element to their MPs) and UKIP right.

If you could name me a single policy that demonstrates that the current government is more "right wing" than Cameron's government that would be much appreciated.

It's obvious.
Arbitrary - no +1.5 or -0.5 as it's integers only, as per arbitrary UK speed limits at e.g. 30 or 40 not 35.
Subjective - no absolute universally applicable / agreed scale of leftism or rightism exists.
Therefore in no way definitive.
Case closed (it already was).

Ok, so you are old, right? It's nothing personal, just testing some hypothesis.

What interests me now is why would you mention something like 'respect' at all? As for nobodies; nobodies in a sense that they are, in my case, not friends whose opinion I value.

Anyhow as for your assumptions;

- I'm not very old. You are right.
- my vested interest is that, at this point in time, moving out of the UK, while always an option, is not an optimal scenario.

I do care about entertaining myself. I'm prepared to invest time to get my entertainment. The fact that you can't understand something as simple as that, is also entertaining. So I'll take this opportunity to thank you.

laugh How utterly futile and absurd. You fixed on the numbers. I only added them at the last moment. It was just a very simple illustration of the political spectrum. You tried to analyse it and read into it a level of detail that was never intended to be there.

Superb irony.

What drives people to Trump in the USA is the shrill control freakery they get from out-of-date left liberalism which claims to support the poor bloody infantry while cosying up to Wall St as they go from incredibly wealthy to fabulously rich while the average voter goes nowhere.

Reminiscent of former Labour MP and former Speaker, Gorbals Mick: "I didn't come into politics not to take what's owed to me".

What drove many people to Trump stateside and UK voters to brexit is a similar brand of distant, insufferable we-know-it-all-better-than-little people arrogance combined with incompetence. Like Clinton's defeat, brexit was self-inflicted to a significant degree.

Until the liberal left stops blaming someone else and sorts their act / manner out they risk getting more of the same, more top Trumps in the USA and more AFD in Germany.
+1 Some good common sense in there.

Oh dear "EU promoter" in your kindergarten, what age does one have to attain to be classed as old? I seem to have missed your replies to this question so many times.

Isn't it more the case that modern politicians have simply failed to notice that the world has changed? And that no politician, left or right, holds any answers to anything any more?

I’m amazed it took that long for anyone to spot that. I’d have thought it would be the most obvious thing to complain about, but no, the numbers were the problem. laugh
