Amuses me that certain posters who lost their st over Angela Rayner calling the tories ‘scum’ are happy to vehemently defend Fox and his ilk…
If Rayner had used the word anywhere else other than in ‘The House’ it wouldn’t have been such a big deal I suspect. The fact that the Speaker of The House had to call Rayner back to apologise for her use of gutter language is all we need to know. Perhaps The Speaker is/was concerned regarding the standards of debate drifting into the gutter levels that has left Rayner with the ‘scum stain’.
Hopefully she has learned from her mistake, she can expect frequent reminders of her wrongdoing.

I still don’t see the similarity between Angela and Fox’s comments. Would someone like to explain?

From the very short video, at the beginning of the thread, it doesn’t look to me like any of those officers are “armed” as in firearms, they’re all wearing/carrying PPE, which is standard whenever they leave the station. I wear plain clothes as a detective and when I’m not on restricted duties, I carry PAVA (incapacitant spray), cuffs, baton, leg straps, spit guard, etc, on a shoulder harness or my belt (I usually only wear my baton on my belts, the rest is in a harness).

Five officers will probably be two DCs to do the arrest (and possibly convey to custody) and uniformed officers to effect entry if required/search.

She said it at a Labour Party conference didn’t she?

Nope, she said it in ‘The House’ . She loudly muttered the words as she was leaving, the Speaker demanded that Rayner be brought back into ‘The House’ where he directed a very forthright reprimand.
She may have used the the term elsewhere, I don’t know, but definitely used in ‘The House’. She has managed to control her emotions since being advised and her presentation ‘ skills’ have improved with the omission of gutter lanquage.

The problem is that your memory of it bears no relation to what actually happened.

I’ll summarise

1. She didn’t say it as she was leaving
2. The Speaker wasn’t presiding at the time.
3. The Deputy Speaker picked her up on it there and then and made a statement about choice of words
4. She was not pulled back into The House
5. She was censured, not reprimanded, forthright or not. It was a statement, not a personal bking delivered in private.
6. The Deputy Speaker is a she not a he.

Other than that you’ve done a great job of getting on your soapbox and having a rant.

If you want to disagree feel free, but here’s a video of the whole exchange. You might want to watch it before challenging my comments.

Gets all antsy over an alleged muttering of "Scum" in the House.

Not so bothered about his favourite PM repeatedly lying to the house.

FWIW, both. She did it more than once.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware that she had used the term elsewhere other than ‘The House’. Clearly doesn’t learn from her errors.

Seems you don’t either when your last post has been completely pulled apart.

No, it’s the only time this has happened in the House of Commons. It bears no relation to what you’re claiming.

Why would you think some posters on here would want to know your real world experience about a situation like this? How are they supposed to believe Fox is an innocent victim of the state! smile

Fox is in the news again, indirectly, and in an unexpected way.

Carol Vorderman is asked whether she would s--g Laurence Fox during HIGNFY

Gee whizz - who the heck was upset apart from Laurence Fox himself and the "Defund the BBC" campaign director?

Probably no one genuinely. Which seems to be the point.
