Saying you woz wrong. There was a drone. I think you said many times, ‘there is no drone’.
If it’s proven conclusively that this event happened as originally reported I’ll apologise, no issue with that, but as yet? No chance.Dearie me.

According to Sky news this morning, they found 2 damaged drones but both have been ruled out of the investigation.
So the hunt goes on.
They also said the Army will be stood down later today.
Should we prepare ourselves for another bunch of "Gatwick CLOSED : drone sighted by airport staff" news headlines this evening then? So the hunt goes on.
They also said the Army will be stood down later today.
Another dead end it seems: https://www.itv.com/news/2018-12-29/two-drones-fou...
I think they'll wrap up their investigation pretty soon - a total waste of time & wild goose chase.
Poor buggers who had xmas ruined for absolutely nothing - I'm in the 'no drone' camp.

So next time a drone is allegedly spotted, you would also be in the 'ignore it' camp and risk there being a drone and the possibility of an aircraft crashing? I think they'll wrap up their investigation pretty soon - a total waste of time & wild goose chase.

If so, now you know why you aren't in a position whereby you are responsible for the safety of others.
As I have stated earlier, it would have been wholly irresponsible for Gatwick to have continued operating whilst an ongoing investigation into the possibility of a drone being in a dangerous position was live. Yes, awful for those who had to endure the disruption and Gatwick and other airports have learned a very valuable lesson in that they need to have systems in place to successfully identify drone threats.
Hindsight is always a wonderful thing and it is very easy for folks like us to criticise but only an utter retard would have ignored the reported sightings and not put safety first. The reports needed to be investigated. Those investigations may indeed be drawing to a close and they may indeed prove inconclusive and redeem no evidence whatsoever but the call made to close the airport until certainty could be reached that no viable threat existed, was the correct one.

why on earth would I suggest such a thing? There either appears to have been a massive over-reaction, or there were never any drones in the first place. If the army are apparently being stood down, one would assume that they have now trained civilian staff in how to use the drone-dome or whatever the Israeli system is called. As I pointed out many pages back, its interesting that Ben Gurion airport has never suffered such a closure....Biker 1 said:

Struggling to understand your logic here. You think it was closed for no reason, but you think it was OK to close the airport, but then closing it was a massive overreaction Have Manchester, Heathrow, Leeds / Bradford, Liverpool, Stanstead, Glasgow, Edinburgh airports been closed by drones? If not, does that add to your conspiracy theory about one Israeli airport?

Conspiracy theory?? They've never had drones, real or otherwise, close Ben Gurion airport, presumably as they thought about this sort of thing & developed & installed a system to mitigate the threat. It seems Gatwick & others didn't bother, even though they were apparently warned, & that systems are commercially available. I'm absolutely sure there was the usual arse-covering that is so prevalent in the UK today, in terms of keeping the airport closed for so long. Either that or our security & surveillance capabilities really are crap.Have Manchester, Heathrow, Leeds / Bradford, Liverpool, Stanstead, Glasgow, Edinburgh airports been closed by drones? If not, does that add to your conspiracy theory about one Israeli airport?

So there were sightings of drones, then they were unconfirmed, probably no drones at all they said, now the Daily Mail show a video of a drone, does anyone know exactly what is going on?
And the unconfirmed fingerprint, breaking news. They haven't got my fingerprints either.
Expect a knock on the door imminently...And the unconfirmed fingerprint, breaking news. They haven't got my fingerprints either.

You are applying hindsight to the event. If multiple reports reached you that a missile was heading towards you would you:
1. Evacuate your position as a precaution and investigate from a safe distance or
2. Remain where you are because you haven't got a verified photo or some other hard proof?
In that scenario, it is only you. But now try and imagine you are responsible for hundreds and thousands of lives. Would you ignore the threat until you had 100% verified photo or video evidence at the risk of a downed plane or an explosion or go for safety first?
As things stand now, absolutely, I would expect Gatwick to have adopted new systems and measures to identify any future drone threats or activity - like Ben Gurion already had.

Fingerprints on drone unknown, say police. So there is a drone. Look forward to tk4c’s apology!

No there isn’t a drone, these two have been ruled out.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6536567/F...
Back to square one.
If you believe tk4c owes you an apology perhaps you should now apologise to him for your mistake?
Sussex Police launched their own drone to help find the drone/person responsible. So of course they got more drone sighting which were about their own drone
