Are brexiteers the only ones paying the £40Bn too?

Remainers pay the £20 billion for the first two years of the implementation period (same as SM and CU) in those first 2 years, Leavers pay the £20 billion for the next 40 years.

Sounds fair enough.

Judging by the amount of time you spend on here it's pretty obvious you aren't paying biggrin

Yep, and Remain voters are going to keep paying into the Peoples Rebuplic of Gravy Train indefinitely (from their own pockets, after tax)

I suppose if leavers also make up the incoming £80Bn/year shortfall in GDP too - forever - then yes, fair enough.

So long as the remainers pay the leavers the gains from the City as it doubles its GDP post Brexit, as predicted by Carney recently.

We could continue this ridiculous discussion all night....

The Leavers will get the new hospitals from the extra £350million per week into the NHS. The Toxics will be signing up for the new EU army.

Hardly, you will personally be paying £350 million a week in NI though.

Any Leavers prepared to admit to disappointment that their representatives in the political class are now basically conceding that the best outcome is a bit worse than the status quo?

BV made a very valid point about the change in promises and was subject to personal attack. The same thing comes in response to literally every post from ajd.

Can you try to respond to posts, rather than making personal attacks and point scoring?

We are seeing the results of a very stupid decision to call a snap general election, then the execution of that campaign in such a shoddy manner we were left with a hung Parliament. That makes this whole process more difficult.

The country voted for this, so we will have to live with it's consequences.

Great response. At least it didn't consist entirely of questions like all your other valuable contributions.

No point in asking you questions as you don’t (or can’t) answer them.

You seem resigned to a rather poor outcome.

Is the concept of brexit so important that we must head off down a negative path, even one that will cause damage the country & cause hardship for millions?

I don't think you can blame the election for the negotiation outcome - the EU would have ruled Phase 1 as they did anyway. It would have been interesting to know if the RoI would have been able to force the outcome they achieved without the DUP. Might May have got away with a special case for NI rather than UK wide alignment without the DUP? I think that has to be debateable.

It is very good comedy. It will be interesting to see how it pans out, a fair few years of entertainment to come !
Whatever the outcome, the next generation will re-join by 2030 anyway, so only a short term blip.

Perhaps if you and your fellow Remainers could try to occasionally answer something/anything, rather than ignore questions or try a bit of deflection, it might encourage others to actually feel there's a worthwhile debate to be had. It's hardly a surprise that many of the better posters, with sensible comments, no longer bother.

I don't play along with your GCSE level attempt at 'clever' debating. I have explained in detail why your "Just asking questions" tactic is a transparent device and shows that you have no interest in actual discussion. You failed to address that point and continue with the same transparent tactic. Until you start to discuss issues rather than try to score points, I shall continue to ignore you.
