I think the GoPro thing was debunked or at least denied at the time. Not sure if it ever went further.
Extraordinarily unlucky if that is what contributed. Loads and loads of people on the slopes wear them.
I read some similar items, except that the propoer go pro mount wasn't used. Won't mention details here as I have no idea if correct or not.Extraordinarily unlucky if that is what contributed. Loads and loads of people on the slopes wear them.

Wow you got out of bed on the wrong side buddy.
Nothing to do with getting out of bed on the wrong side pal. It's just my patience for attention-seeking muppets is practically zero.
It's less than zero when it's on a thread such as this, and from the comment above I see you have form for it.

You mean the guy who wouldn't shut up about Daley Matteson's crash and death at the TT? Even though everyone on that thread told him to?Yeah can't see why he'd post this at all...
Odd you posted this to me and yet another poster further up flagged they had been there and seen a lot of blood - why didn’t you deride that person?
As for another poster not concerned about what speed people ski at why didn’t that poster nail those discussing the helmets and that at 20mph it’s essentially useless. Don’t get it - maybe you hopped onto the last poster rather than all who had discussed the helmet and speed.

Back just after this accident happened there was a poster in these forums with professional experience of dealing with head injuries explaining the severity of MS's brain damage.I cannot recall all the specifics now, but a key pointer to the severity being the depth of the injuries within the brain. I suppose the posts must be on here somewhere, and the key to his/her observations were brain scans from the hospital treating MS.
I well recall seeing the accident scene after he had been taken to hospital, and was shocked at the amount of blood in the snow, and thinking , thats fatal surely? The fact that his helmet was split in half helped to endorse that view.
I really would like to take a positive view of matters, but there is part of my mind that has thought from the early days of the accident, that it would been the best for all, particularly MS if we had been reading an obituary the day after. The obsessive secrecy over him by family does seem extreme and it does make you wonder if its in his wider best interest.
Unfortunately I have had experience of a friend with catastrophic brain damage kept alive , basically for the sake of it, by a family member who could not face up to the fact of the matter, or face the responsiblity of acting for the best interest of the patient and not themselves. Not saying that MS's case is as severe, but I'd wager it's not a mile away from it. It's all very , very sad.
This is the post in case anyone is asking. I well recall seeing the accident scene after he had been taken to hospital, and was shocked at the amount of blood in the snow, and thinking , thats fatal surely? The fact that his helmet was split in half helped to endorse that view.

So given you derided next talking about speeds is all comfortably beyond 20mph safe limit for the helmet vs going to the site and finding lots of blood.
Sometimes it does make you think some posters just want to hint others down and deride them which is a shame if that does happen & pretty sad

Attaching a Go Pro, or similar, to your helmet with Velcro works well. Almost any blow will remove, it without creating any dangerous forces.
I'd rather have a secure mount and run the slightly increased risk of injury than lose £500 worth of camera from a slight glancing blow tbh. It's a shame that Gopro haven't continued their Session form factor as they were ideally suited to mounting on helmets.
I just use the GoPro for drone stuff as that's what fits the gimbal.

Seeing a photo of the aftermath and commenting on it is not the same as "I MIGHT once have been near the site at some point a long time after the incident in question ".So given you derided next talking about speeds is all comfortably beyond 20mph safe limit for the helmet vs going to the site and finding lots of blood.

It's an utterly pointless comment to make.
Whenever I see your name mentioned on this site it's ALWAYS in a derogatory sense. I wonder why...

Why is skiing in Meribel and likely past previous incidents is neither here or there & certainly not worth getting out of bed the wrong side as you’ve utterly taken a post the wrong way. It's an utterly pointless comment to make.

Suggest we leave this now

You’ve been posting dross for a lot longer than lockdown though.
There’s a filter normally found between the brain and the mouth, or the brain and the fingers in this case. I suggest you get yours checked because it appears faulty.
Are you ever going to stop I wonder or do you try to always get the last word in ?There’s a filter normally found between the brain and the mouth, or the brain and the fingers in this case. I suggest you get yours checked because it appears faulty.

My point exactly, perhaps I didn't make it clearly enough.
I've raced in the MGP and amwell aware of the possible consequences if it should go wrong and for a goon like him to continually press for the details of a fatal is disgusting.
Yeah can't see why he'd post this at all...I just found that thread and had a read. Christ, this guy is 'on the spectrum' for sure, no disrespect intended to anyone else who is of course.
His comments on there are extremely morbid and for me he should have been reported to the mods and at least banned from the thread and his posts removed.
Disgraceful.

He was absolutely vile last year in the isle of man TT thread after Daley Mathison was killed too. Desperately trying to find out all the gory details.

No I utterly disagree.
I asked where and how did it happen - as in was it a kerb manhole or could it have been mechanical failure.
Clearly you are all more than happy to get into the A Senna accident and tragic loss just like clearly everyone who was involved with the documentary of it. Or how about the countless other tragic motorsport deaths.
This is not rubber necking and to suggest it is is disrespectful.

BBC sky and god only knows all the other broadcasters we’d this live then countless replays. Those broadcasters are vile rubber Neckers clearly and the commentators am who kept discussing how it happened etc must also be.
I don’t get how some consider some motorsport tragic accidents not open for discussion yet everything else is. Strange really

How did it happen
Why did it happen
Was it faulty or failed parts
How can we stop it happening again.
But given the. Above you’ll not believe that will you - as you were then.
