How many people would support Pence if he were the candidate? To my mind he seems a decent person, albeit with a very large handful of peculiarities. If I look at their generic policies I would say I'm probably more Republican than Democrat but there is no way, even if I had the choice that wI would vote for Trump. I believe that Pence at least has some interest in something other than himself.
One thing about the batst mentalism of Trump’s presidency is that it normalises extremism, so you look at other crazies and think, “hmm, well he’s not that bad.” Pence is a homophobic, climate change denying religious nutter. I agree that he is probably not wholly motivated by self interest. However he is motivated by doing what he thinks is God’s will, which might not be a whole lot better. Gameface said:

Leave him alone. Tonight's dinner won't cook itself...
That’s true gameface...my turn to do the roast this week...That's a putdown of epic proportions.

Exactly. Pence is an Old Testament thug. It's fairly easy to look okayish next to trump, but Pence is still abhorrent.Edited by paulguitar on Sunday 25th October 19:28
Pence a better option than Trump? No, god no. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/10/23/the-...

Anti-abortion, pro-gun, anti-same sex marriage Mike Pence that sold his soul to Trump who's wife works at an anti-LBGTQ school? THAT guy?
No. He's as bad as the rest.
Trump is the Turd King but the republican party as a whole are pretty much despicable.

What he said; Pence is a ghastly misogynist homophobic godbotherer, he has lulled you into thinking otherwise by looking like a model from a Freemans mail order catalogue, being very bland and avuncularly obfuscatory in interviews and generally being an inanimate prop to Trump's 'ME, ME, ME, LOOK AT ME! LOVE ME!' cavalcade. The main thing making him better than Trump is that he would stand much less chance of winning the election as candidate. Just to confirm his membership of the fking loon party; he calls his wife 'Mother' and won't be alone with a woman who isn't his wife.
Let's not forget goes into hiding most of the time. Especially when the Donald opens his mouth. apart from the debate with Harris has he been seen much? The New Hampshire Union Leader, the conservative-leaning newspaper, has endorsed Joe Biden.
It's the first time the paper has endorsed a Democrat for president in over 100 years.
"He has repeatedly expressed his desire to be a president for all of America, and we take him at his word. Joe Biden may not be the president we want, but in 2020 he is the president we desperately need. He will be a president to bring people together and right the ship of state."
"President Trump is not always 100 percent wrong, but he is 100 percent wrong for America,"

A year later:Mark Meadows admits: "We are not going to control the pandemic."
Meadows refused to answer questions about why Pence continues to travel after multiple staffers tested positive.

Biden statement: "They've given up on their basic duty to protect the American people. This wasn't a slip by Meadows, it was a candid acknowledgement of what President Trump's strategy has clearly been from the beginning of this crisis: to wave the white flag of defeat."
Graham when asked about Meadows’ comments:
“We need a vaccine. Until we get a vaccine, it’s going to be just holding the line. It’s all over the world, guys. We’ve had every model from herd immunity to lock the whole world down, it’s still a problem.”

All that love donald gives isn't reciprocated...
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that he saw nothing criminal in Hunter Biden’s past business ties with Ukraine or Russia, marking out his disagreement with one of Donald Trump’s attack lines in the U.S. presidential election.
