So basically you don't give a toss about kids as 'they have social media'.

FFS. My 6 yr old was in tears again today about missing her school and friends, thinking it will never end. But you know what, I'll tell her to suck it up as long periods of deprivation have been endured before.

Jesus listen to yourself. Kids are suffering for no reason, properly suffering, but you don't think it's cavalier.
FFS, she's 6. As an adult most people can barely remember being 6. She's at home and misses her friends. It's a shame but yes she has to suck it up like the rest of us (although you obviously don't put it in those terms). Kids are not suffering any more than the rst of us and for most, they suffer far far less. They don't like the situation but neither do adults.
I remember being 6 very clearly and my parents splitting up - had a profound affect on my life.

Kids are suffering far worse than me at that age, with all this crap by comparison. They will remember and it will probably carry through for the rest of their lives.

I hope a positive can from from this and can positively change the future for their generation, and ensure future generations don't go through this hysteria ever again.

Can raging hysteria be legislated against?
The only hysteria is in this forum.

Just look at the language and phraseology used by some posters.

It is not on the streets or in the shops are where people are out exercising.

The attitude of the parents during divorce and after will impact a young child's memories and emotional wellbeing long term. Like many I have that T shirt.

As long as you can pop to the garden centre though eh.
That's another one where the generation game comes in to play isn't it.

Time goes quicker as you get older. I know plenty of people in their 70s have full and active lives but meeting your friends once or twice a week, going on holiday and eating out are pleasures which can be relatively easily put on hold. Missing loved ones must hurt, but to many it seems a sacrifice they're prepared to make.

I'm in my 40s so it's all about the kids anyway. I miss the odd visit to the pub, meal out, holiday etc. It's tolerable, as I think/hope we can get back to normal in a few months, even if I think it will get worse before it gets better. The time off work was welcome at first but I'm over that now and wanting to get on with stuff.

Then I look at the kids themselves and think how it must be for them. How far away the Easter holidays would seem to me when I was 8. Even if I didn't love school, how long a day off would seem. How seeing your friends after half term was like meeting someone you hadn't seen for years is to me now. For our youngest aged 2, this has been nearly half her life. She thinks people routinely walk around the shops looking like gormless dummies and hovering the regulated 2 meters from everyone.

See how much a kid can develop over a few months and learn skills like swimming or music that will stay with them for life, and remember that that's been put on hold for ages. Many simply won't ever recover that. My 8 year old was learning violin and that's been dropped. I'd like to encourage her but neither my wife and I are much good at music and anyway the social aspect of bouncing off other kids is a big part of it.

They will go back to schools where some kids haven't looked at their work for months and others have done extra, making the classes impossible to effectively teach, especially by teachers who have got accustomed to 'working' from home, which in the case of our school has amounted to forwarding worksheets and online tests.

Others in their teens and twenties suffer in different ways. Casual jobs in retail, pubs and so forth disappeared, universities turned into glorified online training course with a side hustle in accomodation. Those who have gone self-employed recently have been largely overlooked so if you took the bold decision to start your own business or go out contracting in 2019 you could be really up the creek now.

Though I notice that certain occupations which are dangerous and dirty anyway have been deemed essential. The Aldi/Costa/KFC they're building shall be finished come hell or high water, the gazebos and miniature fencing sold in Homebase must get through. From a certain angle it can seem that these things have been deemed more important than the education of children or the employment of young adults.

And it's unavoidable that the ones who are and will suffer the most from this are the ones for whom this disease poses a negligible risk, and who can least afford it. It's also unavoidable that the ones who it has apparently protected and least inconvenienced are that big, reliably voting bloc of baby boomers now in their 60s and 70s and the ones suffering most are the ones who were already facing a life of high debt, expensive houses and struggling public services.

It's not about being angry with baby boomers, which is a pretty fruitless exercise but recognising that politicians playing the generation game are bound to pander to this demographic because it's big and it turns out to vote particularly on the issues that affect it. They are, like everyone, self interested and feel their own problems more acutely than anyone else's. "The missed school, the ruined businesses and the wrecked social lives are terrible, but people like me getting ill and dying is so much worse."

Good game good game!

Yep. Utterly contemptible but sneering condescension has been the trademark of the self proclaimed captain of industry who just want to swan off back to his boat somewhere else so us plague ridden scum are stopping him from doing so by breaking 'the rules' so hardly a surprise anyway either I suppose.....

Who is actually listening to these people any more? One day "ying", the other day "yang"...

I think many people are simply going to get on with their lives. Most people generally do not fret about doing 31mph on an empty road with a speed limit of 30 mph...

Can you not see that your overall attitude and lack of empathy to other people’s circumstances and struggles, which may or may not be a fault of their own making, is why your posts are receiving the reactions they are?

I assume you think anyone struggling currently is somehow weak and pathetic?

Life is not binary. We are all individuals. Just because you are not struggling does not mean other people are able to remain as relaxed about the current situation as you are.

I am fortunate and am not struggling like others, but I dare say if I’d lost my job and lived in an inner city studio flat alone I’d probably find it challenging to stay upbeat currently. Or my business had folded and accordingly I was struggling to pay the bills. There are an abundance of non-covid related scenarios where lockdown has put them in a situation where they are struggling. That is not an anti-lockdown statement for the record.

Demonstrating a lack of empathy and understanding to others struggles in a sneering condescending way is not remotely impressive and makes you look rather insecure, like you feel the need to exert your mental superiority over these pathetic weak minded proles.

Yes perception of time is a very good point.

I will think about something and it seems recent and then I will think, oh that was four years ago. Four years is an eternity if you are, say, 9 years old.

As you say kids can get a bit awkward with one another after a few weeks apart and this has dragged on for months!.

So much cost and they aren't at risk and it hasn't even been proven that primary age kids spread it!

Some of you people need to step away from the Internet for a while. I know it's a semi-lockdown but maybe a long walk?

Your posts however I am actually considering uploading the blocking script to avoid as they lack content and intelligence.

The point of trolling is to get responses. The usual 2 have been tag team obvious trolling over the last few days, they simply need ignoring.

What a way to spend your retirement though, eh? Nothing says "success" like spending entire afternoons winding people up on a forum.
