you think the problems will be lessened when its legal
Yes. You think prohibition makes matters better? The problems associated with heroin use and caused or made worse by prohibition are - acquisitive crime, contaminated drugs, unknown drug concentration, association with criminals and descent into a criminal lifestyle, wasting of police time.
There are other serious problems which would still remain if decriminalised and controlled, but harm would be reduced. It's not a drug that anyone sensible starts using.

So when legal they get their smack for free? If not they will still steal and associate with criminals to sell said ill gotten gains. The problems associated with heroin use and caused or made worse by prohibition are - acquisitive crime, contaminated drugs, unknown drug concentration, association with criminals and descent into a criminal lifestyle, wasting of police time.

This thread has really shown the worst in people on here.
For the people with the silly notion that she's somehow more "privileged" than most - how much money would it take for you to swap positions with her and have your mother die of a heroin overdose when you were a child?
Crazy isn't it - you'd think knowing how your mother died and the damage it did to you and your family and what a selfish act it was would be a bit of an education. For the people with the silly notion that she's somehow more "privileged" than most - how much money would it take for you to swap positions with her and have your mother die of a heroin overdose when you were a child?

No. What is the effect of prohibition on the cost of maintaining a heroin habit?
Well considering they usually fail to function within society when addicted and therefore steal to maintain said habit I would consider it a for gone conclusion that the legalities of the drug sale or use are irrelevant.otolith said:

How many new drug users do you think it creates when legal ? Is this countered by it being less addictive and destroying, or does that bit stay just the same ? Is it all offset by the idea that all users are funding their habit by criminal activity ? It may be cheaper if legal and assuming you can still hold down a job and now pay for what now everything thinks will be a vastly cheaper government controlled supply of heroine/other drugs, so lets say that's the case and now you can get 5 times and much per £ as before. I assume usage doesn't go up per person and its addiction stays the same ? You may see some crime drop from users who can control it and use it and who can now afford it, not sure those who take huge risks to supply it all suddenly go out and get jobs, but do probably move into other areas of high risk crime because they weren't in the business of being a social service to drug addicts but just want money any way they can.
Sympathy and PH don't make good bedfellows.
As I have often said before, the general attitude on PH is that something bad befalls someone - especially someone we know through the media - they brought that bad event down on their own heads.
Matters such as circumstance, mental health issues etc are of no relevance.

It has also shows how incredibly naive some people are.For the people with the silly notion that she's somehow more "privileged" than most - how much money would it take for you to swap positions with her and have your mother die of a heroin overdose when you were a child?
A lot of people resort to drugs to escape the horrors of their life.
She was born with more opportunities and wealth than 99.9% of us but still made that decision to jack up. She had a mother who did the same and therefore knows the pain it causes to the family left behind but again she decided to jack up.
Should I feel sympathy for some spoilt little rich bh? Not a chance!
To be fair I wouldnt have any sympathy with a poor person either, you are not force to inject and get hooked.
Heroin is very cheap to manufacture. It used to be given away free to registered addicts. It could be again. Prohibition causes many many problems and solves none.
The only naivety being shown on here is by those who can't see this. I'm sure it's purely circumstantial that the same group of people are also sorely lacking in any sort of sympathy.
