OH What a surprise (not)
Diane Abbot has waded in now. Now I know that some posters get ever ever so upset when she is mentioned here. Indeed one sterling white knight chap got her thread removed. So before you say it you can call me as racist and gammon as you like for bringing her up
But true to form she who has been silent has now piped up defending assange
Now come on you old gammonny gammonista, you can't leave it at that. wink

What exactly has she said?

We have an extradition agreement with the US don't we ?
Doesn't that extradition agreement state something about Human Right and the death penalty? I understand Labour have raised Human Rights questions regarding Julians impending extradition.

If Labour are correct then good on them, after all don't you think Human Rights are kind of important?
He's facing a maximum 5 year term in the US if he's guilty. He's not facing extradition to some murderous dictatorship, the reason we have an extradition agreement with the US is because we mutually respect each countries judicial system, it works both ways and unless there is a reason to mis-trust their system we should support the existing agreement.

Human Rights are indeed important, but that argument is not relevant in this situation.
Dont the 2 women who were "allegedly" raped have human rights?

Apparently she argued that the rape/assault charges were 'never brought', an opinion she repeated even after being told that Swedish law requires the accused to be present for charges to be made - something JA has managed to avoid by hiding away all this time.

Didn't Assange show footage of USA chopper firing on journalists and civilians?
Yes. Let’s not worry about the rapes then! Or the releasing of goodness knows what other classified information and what that may have lead to.

He is a nasty vindictive egoist who exhausted every route of the law to evade taking responsibility for the laws he broke, then when that was all used up he hid like a worm and didn’t even have the decency to treat his hosts with some respect for their troubles.

Deserves everything he gets in my opinion
My post was a question, see the question mark? I have no dog in this fight.

Is it? If an MP rents a London home to or from another MP it makes no difference financially or materially.
Dave rents his house to Sarah, Sarah rents her place to Dave.

They each pay £1k/wk and claim this from the tax payer...
Hell, shall we call it £1,750 a week each? Julian and Jeremy's school fees have gone up again, so it'd be rather handy.
If only there was a limit on what they could claim.

When it comes from the taxpayer they'll suck up as much of that gravy as possible.

I expect Jeremy has upholding UK law as the main concern and the Theresa has appeasement of the extreme right wing of her party as their main concern.
It's been proven time after time that TM is in favour of more taxes, more authoritarian controls, more immigration and less Brexit... what's any of that got to do with right wing, never mind 'extreme right wing'?

I love the way people add hyperbolic adjectives like 'EXTREME!' to add credence to their claim. It usually does the opposite.

Two MPs own London property. Instead of living in their own, they instead rent from each other, each house receives the rent from the taxpayer, the MPs get a free house to live in, while receiving rent from the other. Not bent at all.

I do not know if this does actually happen, as alluded to by others, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it did.
I don't see the issue. Just because you own another property it doesn't mean you have to provide it free for the benefit of the tax payer.

Go back to your allotments and prepare for government. smile

I know I know it’s just one poll (+ a click bait headline) however Corbyn has gone from “haha there’s no chance he’ll ever get anywhere near to number 10” to “oh st there’s now an outside chance that Corbyn could become PM”. All thanks to Theresa May and the Tories.

Polls are useless Mori has the Conservatives 4 points ahead another has Labour 9 points ahead. I think a major factor could actually be turn out by an Election will anyone actually think Voting is a worthwhile activity.

Several polls out now showing Lab pulling ahead specifically this week.

A scary thought.

The swing is largely down to good old Nigel and his gammon party.

What's scary about it?

We're overturning democratic votes because they'll damage the economy now, aren't we?

Order of economic magnitude.

Polls that have a 15 point variation are really not worth considering the only poll that will matter is when May does the honourable things and we have a G.E. If Nigel Farage manages to get a few MP's then he isn't going to help form a Labour Gov is he.
Another hung Parliament seems likely

Which one are you saying is an order of magnitude worse?

Point missed.

It’s the defectors to Nige that this week have eroded the Tory position in the polls.

But let’s hope to your point that come election time people see sense and vote for proper political parties if they bother to vote at all.
