The last story was less controversial because they weren't actively trying to escape the police, and the corresponding PH thread was a lot more unified than this thread is.
You should get a job in PR with answers like thatYou’d be st at it if anybody with half a brain read your copy though.

You could ask the same question for PHs. Why is this such a big story on here when say this incident a few weeks ago wasn’t?

One gets 20 odd replies and the other almost 400.
The "Nasty Car Crash in Birmingham" thread is currently at over 1000 replies.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I get a feeling of deja vu reading this thread. The similarities between certain demographics are obvious, as are some comments.

It's difficult for a thread to gain many pages if everyone is broadly in agreement.
Crashing whilst actively evading police generally garners less sympathy than crashing in general.

Strange how this one has atttacted a sudden uptick in attention since the funeral pictures appeared. It's difficult for a thread to gain many pages if everyone is broadly in agreement.

Almost as if the funeral somehow make the original acts even more worthy of commment and yet clearly those original acts can’t have got worse.

The funeral pictures started a new line of conversation, which was "why are muslim women apparently unwelcome at funerals?".
Why can't people simultaneously be critical of those who crash whilst evading police, and also be critical of women being second class citizens under Islam, without those two viewpoints interfering with each other?

Probably because most folks on NP&E seem quite happy for women to be second class citizens until it's something involving Islam? My perception is that there's a curious double-standard where everyone turns into a womens rights campaigner whenever Islam is mentioned.
Most other threads they're snakes with tits.
Odd that.

I wouldn't class myself as a womens rights campaigner, or a feminist. I don't agree with affirmative action, or "positive" discrimination, for example. I do believe in equality of opportunity, and people being treated equally.
I don't see any logical flaw in believing that an individual can be a "SWT" whilst also believing that women should be treated equally, and have equal opportunity.
Of course, some will use these arguments to justify their sexist or racist attitudes, but I haven't seen much of that on this thread.

It always amazes me just how tough trees are.
There really is no arguing with a tree is there?
I dunno. If the tree posted on here with his version of events I reckon a few would manage it.There really is no arguing with a tree is there?

Now throw somebody gay and foreign into the mix, and watch their heads explode as they try to figure out the hierarchy of their bigotry.
I wonder if you will ever gain the self awareness to understand the hypocrisy in what you have posted there.I fear it’s unlikely.

Thousands gather for funeral of four friends killed in '100mph' chase when they hit a tree while they were being chased by police at 5.30am

Isn't there a juxtaposition in the photo, with the church and the mourners.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6026713/Hu...
We dont know enough about the background to the crash, why were they being pursued at speed in the centre of town
“Etiquettes
There are also some matters regarding etiquette that one should be aware of when attending the funeral. Women from the Muslim faith commonly do not attend the funeral however should non Muslim women wish to attend the following advice should be noted:”
When my friend died, the women were at home preparing meals for the family of the deceased during the funeral.

When I went to a Muslim friend's funeral, at a mosque in South London, the women were there. They were in a different room, sure, but they were in the mosque. And they were at the cemetery, with no gender segregation. Muslims and non-Muslims together.
