Because the protestors pole is bigger than the police's baton wink

If any single cop breaks from the line they'll get absolutely mobbed so it's very difficult to go out and get them.

Yep, unfortunately the current tactic appears to be containment, they just don't have the capacity in current kit and numbers to be going into the crowd and nicking people. Except for rabbits.

It's amazing how this turns into cries of "Police Brutality"... There is remarkable restraint being shown on one side only at the moment.

"Another protester, unemployed Adam Lambert, 25, of Finsbury Park, north London, said: "I'm here with the Stop the War Coalition because we think the G20 are not representing the ordinary people in the world.

"We think they are representing the rich.

"Every day we hear of billions being given to bankers and billions are being spent on wars."

As uppose to the billions spent on benefits so people can take the p*ss, utter scum, probably doesn't realise the irony of his statement - if this was a football crowd, they'd have snatch squads and they'd have deployed the riot police ages ago.

Whats the betting its diversionary: Allow them to vent anger on an 'insignificant' branch which has more than likely been gutted in preparation - so that the HQ is left alone.

The police are quite happily watching the windows being broken etc which suggests they know exactly whats going on.

What a bunch of clowns. Hopefully they will follow up with the DSS and make all the Job Seekers pay back the money. I presume most universities are empty today as well as it must be better than lectures

Sorry chaps, but a bit dissapointing on the picture front, the police would not let people go anywhere near. My office is in Lombard and they would not let me leave that road.
I was down at bank tube at about 1145 to watch the protesters arrive as I came out of gymbox and I got stuck between 2 police cordons - they were very organised and had control over where people were going.

The meat wagons in Lombard...

As close as I could get to the Bank of England...

As I am posting this the windows at RBS liverpool street are being put through...

Down all the side streets you'll find coach loads of riot police just sitting waiting for the signal to move in.

Sounds plaiusable to me, fill the office with redundant IT kit and CRT monitors that'll cost money to get rid of anyway and let the crusties get their frustrations out before they get to the HQ.

Just got back from watching up by Mansion House. Pretty tame at present but there is a definite atmosphere at present. Saw a crusty being bundled into the back of a meat wagon and severl of his 'mates' tried to help out before being rushed by other officers.

Not long to go now I feel.
