Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 10
Discussion
Well that was a splendid line of questioning from Margaret Mitchell. prolonged and wordy without achieving very much at all. Fabiani shut it down on the grounds of 'rhetoric' and 'inappropriate tone' an impartial Convenor indeed.
Then invites Sturgeon to answer whatever aspect of that questioning she felt like answering

Well that was a complete, total, and utter waste of nine hours of everyone's day. Mammy Sturgoen was allowed to bluster, talk around, obfuscate, blur, smear and misrepresent, all without reproach or recourse from the committee or the Convenor. What a shambles. Nobody managed to lay a meaningful hand on her. An utter joke of an undertaking, a waste of public time and money. She will get away with it, once again. The press won't touch her, the opposition are useless, and her fanatics are so devoted they will leap to her unquestioning defence.

It's worked out pretty much as expected, with the upside of the prospect of a prolonged SNP internal war. Mmmm ... I'm not sure what will happen next .
The woad wearers will consider it a victory for their leader and her transparent honesty and caring nature but there will be many ,many people who will be left with a distinct ill feeling that there was just too many unexplained and mystifying events smothered in a coating of rich legalesque innuendo .
What's that phrase " If it looks like a duck , quacks like ......"
I'm still hoping that there will be a proof positive leak or slip in the documents that are still to be handed to the commitee .
I still think there is a good chance of a vonc in her and her deputy .
As I also said earlier ,I hope the Greens are considering their association with the Devil .

Gave up around half way through.
The damage has been done: she was clearly evasive and almost certainly (as per wings) lying. The idea she is a figure of competence and probity has been shown to be utter ste.
There’s more still to come but not likely from this committee. All eyes on Hamilton though I suspect given the evasions she put in place today, I still expect that Wolffe and Evans will probably carry the can and resign, but she’ll stick around though damaged. It will be interesting to see what Salmond does next.

I wouldn't read too much into her performance today. It's not the committee she has to convince.
Is this in regards to the other review going on (Hamilton??) that may include the WhatsApp stuff?? Whether they will or not given the competent members appear to be heavily outnumbered?
How on earth does an SNP member get to head an enquiry concerning another SNP member
It was pretty clear to me that NS had an easy ride and the head of the committee on the last shut down of the deputy giving NS a free pass to reply to what she wanted to was just plain wrong. What can this committee actually do once it has come to a conclusion/decision? If the answer is nothing then what a waste of time and money.
This has made Scottish G'ment look like it is run by a bunch of clueless chimps. IMO.

Not really. More that the SNP itself, Scottish Parliament and ultimately the electorate are the ones who'll end up turfing Mammie out. She could be delivering a speech that'd make Maximus blush in the inquiry and still find herself at Jobcentre Plus. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
