So you refuse to answer. Just chatted to my daughter btw, who concurs with me.
Refuse to answer? I answered your original question three times. Now you've gone off on one and I'm meant to be responsible for you? Do you not have a carer?

Come on Nick, you can do better than this.
Not sure he can biggrin

Oh no, without the EU's protection we'll be fked!

The US fked the French, they'll fk us too...

See the logical flaw?

As for anecdote outweighing data, well that bit of the pyramid of debate is wider than the upper levels - so it's bigger and therefore better, right?

It won’t matter soon. No Eu to ensure those trade marks are protected.

You will be able to buy your Melton Mowbray from Minnesota and Cheddar from Carolina and single malt Scotch from Scottsdale.

The term cheddar cheese is widely used, but has no protected designation of origin within the European Union.

Not very good at this, are you? A few seconds on Google would prevent a reoccurance of foot-in-mouth, but your hubris doesn't allow it biglaugh

Well that’s a turn up for the forum

The question has been settled by Nick’s daughter popping into her local Walmart

and how...

it's yet another variant on the "we need them more than they need us" theme that we've seen so often. If I didn't know better I'd suspect Nick has been sampling one of those cases of Maison Gosselin he dropped into the conversation earlier.
It’s a shop, plonker.
Plonk(er)

see what you did there wink

Nick will never get it, not a chance in a million.

Meantime, Brexit types can’t even get Big Ben to bong for Brexit. And yet these are the very same muppets we need to do multiple trade deals by the year end?

Christ.
Yet the gofundme appeal is in excess of 150K in just over 24hrs.

You can donate as anything in excess of 500K goes to HfH

https://www.gofundme.com/f/bigbenbongforbrexit

It will make you choke undoubtedly
Yet parliament won’t agree to take the money?

A complete shambles I’m afraid.

Let’s hope it’s not a sign of things to come?

If someone lives near Nick, can you check in on him. #prayfornick - the hangover's going to be a stonker.

Certainly more than me - I'm borderline teetotal, and when I do have a drink it's almost certainly a local ale...

On the actual debate though - where do you fall based upon the arguments presented?

If we pitched it, debating society style, as "this house believes that leaving the EU will destroy our regionally protected trademarks, and the EU have the upper hand in negotiations due to that" - are you an aye or a nay?

Precisely, how Boris will sort the deal - he's just going to get a note from his mum. It's very simple and straightforward.

Doesn't everyone do this? Nick's a down to earth chap, highly representative of the UK population. I would have thought most would do this.

Though it's a bit rhum of him not to suggest to his neighbour to get flags with anti-fray edging (like my union and St George's flags smile).

TBF tattered or upside down union flags trigger my OCD too. Not enough to make me want to deliver a missive on the subject, but nonetheless, I have a degree of sympathy.

My point had nothing to do with the Eu. I am reasonably hopeful that an equitable deal will be made with them.

It’s the USA where my concerns lay. I do not believe any deal with them will be equitable and they will get better access to our markets than we will in reality to theirs.

Undoubtedly, and I've no doubt he knows more about tourist attractions around the world than I do. I'm sure his neighbour appreciates the guidance on how to fly a flag as well.

I learn an awful lot from threads like these, it's good to have a grasp on the important things in life. smile

In fairness to Nick that wasn’t the motion being proposed as I read it.
