The whole thing is being pumped up by politicians so that they can appear to be concerned and to be doing something - anything other than face the grim reality of the real story, ie the flushing of Europe's economy down the toilet.

They sure do like their distractions.

As you say the eurozone is on the brink and what do we get in the press this weekend...

"Look! Over there! A monkey! An Adviser!"

The whole affair looks a bit queer if you ask me.whistle
That has been well known for a long time.
How long have you known, because I've only recently found out?

Was his wedding to a woman just a sham to gull of his homophobic
constituents and party members, then?
A mate of mine had a flat close to Fox's flat in Borough. He saw him in the pub from time to time. Friendly guy and not exactly discreet about his orientation apparently.

A few headlines with one or two "suggestions" and he's hung drawn and quartered. Why bother with any investigations of any nature just let the informed ones decide people's fate.
The whole financial world is on the edge and a Labour think they may be able to stick the knife into FOX so what who cares. We should be far more concerned about when and if we are going to be able to retire with anything like a decent pension.
If he has done wrong he gets the sack and someone will take his place.

Fox has bigger enemies than those in the Labour party. The senior echelons of the military can't stand him and Dave & Gideon would lose no sleep over his resignation. Yes Labour have been shamelessly opportunistic about this whole thing but the leaks and briefings to the Sunday papers did not come from them.

Personally I have always found him a bit "flaky" but we need to get a grip and stop being diverted from dealing with real problems.
Like, Germany has done exceptionally well from the Euro and EEC but now is baulking at paying something back.
Liam Fox is small fry.

Liam Fox statement said:
"I accept that it was a mistake to allow distinctions to be blurred between my professional responsibilities and my personal loyalties to a friend. I am sorry for this.

"At no stage did I or my Department provide classified information or briefings to Mr Werritty or assist with his commercial work – let alone benefit personally from this work.

"Nevertheless, I do accept that given Mr Werritty’s defence related business interests, my frequent contacts with him may have given an impression of wrongdoing, and may also have given third parties the misleading impression that Mr Werritty was an official adviser rather than simply a friend.

"I have learned lessons from this experience.

"I accept that with the benefit of hindsight I should have taken much greater care to ensure that any meetings with Adam Werritty, at which defence and security related issues were raised, were properly attended by officials and recorded – to protect myself and the Government from any suggestion of wrongdoing.

"With respect to my meeting with Mr Boulter in Dubai in June 2011, I accept that it was wrong to meet with a commercial supplier, without the presence of an official.

"I have apologised to the Prime Minister and agreed with my Permanent Secretary to put in place new procedures to ensure that this does not happen again.

"My Permanent Secretary will report her interim findings to the Cabinet Secretary tomorrow. It is important that this process is allowed to run its course. I will answer all questions in the House of Commons."

As other commentators have picked up upon in the comment section, why so little media exposure for Huhne and his multiple wrong-doings? Strange.....

No one cares; it's just being desperately stirred up day after day by the BBC. Despite being a lead item on the website, no Liam fox story is in the most read or most shared categories on the BBC news website. Even BBC readers don't give a toss about this story.
There's no topic on here because 98% PHers would suck wet farts out the Tory machine if they could . There are many topics in the news that don't appear on here unless they are of the red colour and then all sorts of idiotic posts come out like no tomorrow
hehe

Fox has history though:

£22,000 expenses.

Appointed Werritty executive director of Atlantic Bridge a right-wing charity recently closed down because it turned out not to be charitable at all - "The Atlantic Bridge's trustees decided to wind the organisation up rather than address the Charity Commission's concerns" - Werritty was the sole employee

During 2002 and 2003 Werritty lived rent-free in Fox's London flat – a taxpayer-funded 'second home'.

Fox and Werritty used to attend karaoke nights together, where Fox was known as 'Barry from Bournemouth'.

The two men are fond of dressing alike paperbag

I'm sure it's just a silly mis-understanding. I'll bet he's not lying about anything at all.

View from a transatlantic hopper and left right skipper says Fox won't be a jumper.

Labour overplays its hand and Fox will survive

The fundamental problem as I see it is this:
Politicians run the country (government.)
They are removed from "actual reality" whereby I would not take a "chum" to a business meeting with a senior client.
I would not claim for expenses I had not incurred or could not claim.

They fail the elementary test of "How would this look if it got out?"
And worse "Is what I am doing right, ethical, acceptable, you know OK?"
Oh and if not hertrosexual, don't pretend you are. No need to be out, just stay silent.

These folk just don't get it.
Labour don't get that we don't want to be hostage to Bob Crow and another trillion in debt.
The Tories don't get it that most people earn the average income or less, so right now are heading down.
The LibDems don't get that once you are in government you have to make hard choices.
UKIP/BNP don't get that all those people who don't look like them or worship the same God as them, are here to stay.

Chapter Ends.
Thanks for listening.

I like Liam Fox, he seems to have done a passable job at the thankless task of being the SecDef wielding the biggest axe since Options for Change, but this is embarrassing. Some random nobber flashing business cards claiming to be something he isn't(a Special Adviser is a real job, and this guy isn't it) and sitting in meetings. WTF? Could he not just have stuck to sharing hotel rooms a la William Hague?

I had to chuckle watching ITV news, the reporter said "what is it about this man? I don't take my mate to meetings, you don't. Nobody does so why does he have to have his mate with him everywhere"

It's not just that though is it? He's not, "Some random nobber". These guys go back 15 years

He is from a government/civil service perspective; he doesn't work for either, hasn't been vetted and has no security clearance. If I wore tinfoil in my spare time I might accuse him of being a FSB honeytrap/sleeper, but that's a bit of a stretch.

It does beggar belief.

Let's just make the salary half a million a year, but the slightest error and they are executed in public. Nice trade off and should sharpen them up a bit.
