Isnt the fact that the prize had changed this year an indication that they had realised there was a problem with the previous system?

He said, “The cameras have stopped rolling now. Welcome to the real world. There is no job.”

Almost as if Television is nothing but organised pantomime. Surely not......

To be fair he has put the knife in. He showed no respect to her or the position that she was competing for.

Read the response by his people.

A six figure salary they say... just!

£100,000 doesn't seem all that much to go on a game show and make a cock out of yourself over.

If anyone of them were as good as they make out they have to be to win the show, then they could make more running their own business anyway.

Hmmmm

I think they are all in it for what they can get anyway. The job is probably not really that important to either Sugar or the contestants.

The caliber of contestants is unsurprising given that nobody in their right mind would want to work for that terrier-faced mug. Honestly, he's a barrow boy who had a bit of luck and everyone acts like he's God Almighty.
Mitchell and Webb's take on what the Apprentice would be like if sensible people were on it..

Read Alan Sugar's autobiography and a lot becomes clear. Even though it's as objective as an auto is going to be you can get a glimpse of the real guy and it isn't pretty. He gloats about pulling hard guy devious tricks on folk whilst wingeing that big chains didn't give him a leg up. He makes a big thing about not liking schmoozers yet has chosen Karen Brady for The Apprentice and from the bio, he clearly falls prey to schmoozers quite a lot as long as they press the right ego buttons. I was a bit of a fan until I read his bio and then I wasn't. Bit of an Essex wide-boy.

Yep sounds about right, Alan Sugar doesn't really have a "business empire" into which a 100k salary jobs can just be found.

The current format does however make me think why not save a lot of time and effort and just enter dragons den (or find an angle investor).
Investors these days are quite obtuse.
laugh Yes, but only if you're not complementary...

She wasn't complaining that she did not have one on one's, she needed some direction and something to focus on.

Not every position is so easy to quantify in terms of "money you are saving the company" is it?

He is one of those TV e-entrepreneur individuals who is in total denial of how much of a factor luck has been in their fortune. Duncan Banatyne is similar - read is autobiography and look at the risks he got away with in financing his first care homes. Entrepreneurial? Yes. Wise? Not really.

As for The Apprentice, yes the act of candidacy of the contestants
immediately removes them of any worth as far as employment. Celebrity is another issue.

And as for the 'job'; well i do think that as it's presented in this story, it stinks a little. It's a little sordid really.

I would have to disagree

As presented the job is an opportunity to learn from Alan Sugar, the £100k is a good incentive, but hardly key for someone already in a good career.

If there are five layers of management between you then I fail to see how you are supposed to 'learn' from him.
Learn what? He's little more than a property magnate these days.

Maybe they realise their ideas aren't good enough, or they've already been rejected by Dragon's Den. The whole thing should be re-named to the Alan Sugar Show, where people have to kneel before him and listen to his stories of how he made it from nuffink and is right good at this business lark.

I started off a fan on the first couple of series but now detest the show, Alan and Mr Trump.

Come on, that's not really fair. He's a genius surely, coming up with that revolutionary Email phone and forseeing the fact that the ipod wouldn't take off. Oh wait...

I'd call him "Chimpy." You know, on account of him looking like a little chimp and all.
