A lot of uncomfortable faces there. Which is nice...hehe

Hope our Nige doesn't get bumped off....
Nige can't get bumped off - remember, God is looking after him (plane crash).
God (only) knows we will need Nige! wink
And God knows we'd love to have daily news featuring Nige.
Christ, my life would be heaven!hehe

Farage should be PM.

Hannan is a good guy too, I can't figure out why he is still with the Tories, and why the Tories allow him to carry on as he does. They're obviously miles apart.

Hannan is aligned with eurosceptic backbench Tories, so the majority. He must make Cameron and Van Rompuy very uncomfortable biggrin

We all hate politicians, but we (those with sense!) love Farage, that video shows he is an orator at the very top, such skill and power he not only delivers, but with it the truth!

The day can't come soon enough for me to see him standing on the steps of No. 10.

Perhaps then this country might, just might, if it's not too late, regain its lost independence, stand alone and be envied once more, instead of being on the downward path that it currently is: a laughing stock heading for third world status.

And, once we've sailed away from the EU on the good ship England and Northern Ireland, under Captain Nigel (because the welsh and the scots won't have anything to do with leaving the EU), do you seriously think the rest of the world will lie back and let us reassume our 'rightful position', at the top table in world affairs?

Dream on.

Why has the alternative (in EUphile eyes) always got to be some half baked revival of the British empire?

We're 60 odd million people, with a developed first world economy. If we can't survive outside the EU how on earth can the likes of Canada, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Norway?

Sad but true. As soon as we were back to the European Free Trade Area BMW would stop selling us their cars, as would Volkswagon, all the Seats in Spain too, and the Pugs, Citreons, Renaults frown.

They's just laugh at us and tell us they don't want our money.
Same as Taiwan would close us down and tell us they don't like our chip designs any more.
Then the US would stop trading with us, that's goodbye MacDonalds.
Neros, Costa coffee, all gone too, no point in selling us coffee once we are pre-Maastricht frown

Yes I can see free of the yoke of the EU, we'd have all the money we saved not giving it to the feckless EU and no one willing to trade with us. I can just picture the boats from China and Hong/Kong doing giant U-turns in the channel.
And then there's the arms trade to the middle east - they'd laugh at us and cancel all the orders frown

Good point Snap, your finger's on the pulse as always.
Explains why Switzerland is a deserted barren wasteland too, not in the club, not playing with the big boys.

Exactly! Snap probably thinks BMW would immediately close down the successful MINI plant in Cowley.
You said it... 'Dream on!'
Perhaps I should ask the French customer who has just ordered from me if she would cancel if we were outside the EU?
I'll give you one guess as to what her one word reply would be.
Maggie used to utter it regularly!

Of course, BMW would love to sell us stuff, if we could still afford it. Duh!
They'll sell stuff to anybody who has the cash.

It's got nothing to do with what we would want to buy.
It's to do with the barriers they'd put up against what we want to sell.
Or are you saying that suddenly all those completely worthless, corrupt europeans are going to behave differently when we reject them.

Try a little thought experiment.
Imagine signing a free trade agreement with the french.
Then try to imagine them keeping it.

Like I said. Dream on.

We don't need a thought experiment: we actually did it.

Before the EU existed (before Tory Major signed the Maastricht Treaty) we did trade, both ways with France.
They were a better partner then too, because they were not of the brink of financial collapse...
..... of course with the benefits of full EU and Euro membership they might not be around much longer to trade with.

Try a little thought experiment.
Imagine trade with France after a full blown euro currency collapse.

I'll explain this slowly.

France sells more to us than we sell to them.

This means that it is in their interest to continue to have a free trade agreement with the UK.

OK if you can guarantee that one would work…

Nigel really is worth his wages isnt he?

I'm still unsure whether he could cope with the day to day "fekking people about" that being PM demands.

But for now, if he sticks a UKIP man in my constituency (at present being fekked about by CMD's social engineering) Nige's man gets two votes.

I know all about the franchise, my missus tells me how to vote.wink

I know it's popular on these pages to dislike Cameron, but seriously, how exactly has Merkel "swatted him away"? It's bonkers.

What Merkel wants- needs, really- is a huge tranche of British cash, raised by imposing an EU only Tobin tax. A tax that would have been inflicted mainly on us.

What she got is "no".
Merkel also has elections next year and at this rate she's unlikely to win by all accounts. CMD is not daft enough to think this is the time to go wading into the EU about repatriating powers etc - because he knows it isn't. That one is a a "long game"

Now is the time to be seen to be helping to stabilise the EZ whilst also not picking up the tab for doing so. Not sure he's going to succeed in that - but then I don't think anyone is going to succeed in that!

He's wrong. This is the _perfect_ time, he is either a) an idiot, or b) very pre EU.

BTW I found another reason why we need our wonderful Royals - the lone voice of reason:

No, he's not wrong. The one thing we can't afford to do in the long term is actually be seen to damage or destabilise the EU or the EZ within it. If we do that memories will be long, we will not be forgiven for it and British business will pick up the tab for it for as long as you care to think.

There is no easy answer to any of this but I'm pretty sure that heading down one way streets & taking radical & irreversible action, the effects of which can not and are not yet properly understood, is not the right thing to do just now.

Agreed on HRH though smile .
