I'm not the one complaining about 2 wrongs don't make a right. people couldn't give a hoot about chickens, or pigs, or whatever else sits on your own dinner table. They only seem to care what is on other peoples dinner tables.
I'm not complaining, merely adding my thoughts to the thread. And plenty of people do care about chickens, pigs and whatever else they eat, myself included.

So only lefty types aren't keen on whaling? Get real.
No, but lefty types get themselves worked up about things on the back of the slanted stories these groups produce, without reference to anything real.

An inhumane way of killing though.
Is it more or less humane than being electrocuted and having your throat cut?

Less. Once stunned, the animal feels nothing. Whales can take hours to die. Mind you, I'm not keen on modern abbatoirs. It was much better with smaller local ones plus some mobile units. Unfortunately health and safety rules saw to them.

The comparison with abattoirs is completely bogus to my mind. Farm animals are born and bred ultimately to be eaten. There's no nice and kind way to do it, they're walking sides of meat that wouldn't even exist if we didn't farm them. They are docile and used to human contact. Whales are wild and must be hunted and killed.

The notion of applying human emotions and sentimentalities concerning mortality to either is absurd.

We'll agree to disagree then. And it wasn't me that raised the question of domestic animals. Whales don't 'need' to be hunted.
End of thread for me, bye bye all.

So, speaking from the point of view of the OP it would appear this is just another PR botch up by Green Peace. Nuff said

Indeed, and no surprise that the BBC and Grauniad print it unquestioningly.

Still, it'll probably turn up in the next IPCC report as 'Global warming will kill all whales by 2015' or some such nonsense.
