How dare they!!!

Hence why champagne Kens idea would never have got off the ground as he would have wanted free fully maintained free of charge bikes for all the low paid/benefits classes and heavily charged for bikes for everyone else. Who the fk is going to do that.

Ken is an idiot

Boris is an idiot.

I don't live in London so my opinion matters not.

I get the impression people on here only like Boris because he is from the blue team. Odd because he often spouts green ste.

Putting the green stuff to one side - so far, Boris has been miles to the left of a typical PHer.

Channel 4 News Factcheck - more tube delays under Boris or Ken?

Article said:
FactCheck looked at every four-week period (we can’t say “month” because TfL, like ancient pagans, divides the year into 13 lots of four weeks) where each Mayor was in office for the full period – in other words, we discounted the times when mayoral elections fell in the middle of a period.

We simply totted up all the figures for every Tube line in every four-week spell under Boris’s term so far and under Ken’s second term, then took the average for both.

Here’s what we found:

No its because most here are of the opinion that you get out what YOU put in. Not in Kens world. In Kens Republic of Londonistan THEY get out what everyone else puts in.

Boris has to spout Green nonsense, otherwise Yerp would come down on London like a ton of bricks.

Anyway theres nothing wrong with sensibly reducing energy use/emissions. Ken just wants eveeryone back in the Middle Ages.

I thought that too but have nothing to back it up if I was challenged. I only remember the green stuff.

I also remember thinking a few times to myself thats something ken would say.

But without demonising any groups.

That's the real difference.

Someone like Ken is a modern day Jew Hunter who demonises groups and uses hatred and fear to rally support.

There is an honesty to Boris' buffoonery.

I wouldn't say that on everything. IIRC he's rather more Eurosceptic than CMD.

Any press conference with Boris is always a laugh- any televised event with Boris, in fact, is great!

Also, I'm a massive fan of the Barclays bike hire scheme- called Boris Bikes by most although I have no idea whether that's because he was genuinely very involved with them or just as it's something that rolls off the tongue and was picked up by the press
Genuinely involved?? Bit of an understatement there. If i understood correctly he pretty much bullied it into fruition.
Like I said, I have no idea, I just use them. Thanks for clarifying for me smile
In the interests of fairness, it's probably best I point out, the Boris Bike was Kens idea.
No, in the interests of fairness I think we will find it was a Continental idea that most major cities have been implementing over the last few years, the most popular and reported being the Paris biking scheme. Either way Boris gets the PR and credit for it in London because he has long been associated with cycling around the place.

When Ken lost to Boris, he said that he wouldn't run for Mayor again. That should show you what he's like.

Well yes of course, standard political practice, but we cant credit the Parisians for bringing it to London, that honour goes to Ken.

Agreed, a smooth criminal. Regrettably I dont think he will see a second term, Ken has got everyone riled up over the Train Fare increase.

So you credit Ken for taking an idea that was already in widespread use elsewhere and was actually implemented by Boris? As you say, standard political practice for Ken.

As it is, Boris implemented the idea without Ken and all his cronies needing to go on fully-expensed trips to look at people riding bikes in other capital cities - preferably ones that are warm and sunny with plenty of golf courses wink

Do we actually use 'commie' as an insult over here? I thought that was reserved for republican Americans to use.

I do, because it describes a lot of what is wrong about ken's attempts at thinking.

Where credit is due is in getting Barclays to stump up the cash. He applied quite a bit of pressure and emotional blackmail on that deal.

Regrettably yes, he got on his champagne quaffing private jet, filled with venezualan petrol, flew to Paris Hilton, shook dignitary hands, kissed ugly babies and collected his big fat cheque to sell the idea to Londoners, which he did. Whichever way you tell it, does not make it any less true wink
