Calling someone "Fatty" could become a hatecrime.

"..no matter what"?
I don't recall seeing a truly fat person out walking a dog in the countryside, or trudging over hill or through dale. They must be too busy writing food diaries or programming their step-counting devices.
Or possibly cowering at home because people like you have eroded their confidence and self-image down to zero. People have had surgery to shrink their stomach and still gained the weight back, despite adhering to the diet and exercise regimen they are prescribed.

Plenty of fat people who count calories and eat the correct amount of the right types of food for their exertion levels.
Some people just can't seem to lose weight, no matter what.
Where were those people who just can't seem to lose weight, no matter what, when the allies rescued the concentration camps at the end of WW2? Thousands of people, all skin and bone. I never saw a single one at 18st saying "I've been in Auchwitz for 3 yrs, working like a slave with very little food but I just seem to shift the weight". Some people just can't seem to lose weight, no matter what.
What about the guys on the Burma Railway....where was the guy there that just can't lose the weight? They were all about 4 stone.
The camps in Bosnia in the 90s. Not a single fatty to be seen. Very strange, given that some people just can't lose it.

I've had enough of people talking about things they know nothing about. People talking on matters they're not qualified to annoys me generally, so I'll give this thread a miss and read some entertaining welfare bashing.
Wait, don't go yet!Which qualifications are you refering to? What qualifies you to say that the things being said in this thread indicate that people know nothing about the issue?
I guess fatty's a bit touchy about it.

They've had surgery because they lack the self will to eat less and do more exercise. They gained the weight again because they lacked the self will to alter their lifestyle from before the operation. Weight loss is simply burning more calories than you take in. Are you suggesting these people can't burn calories somehow? Their bodies are somehow ultra efficient and are able to run on virtually no calories whatsoever?

I don't know, I could be wrong, but I remember reading on several occasions that some people have a fat gene or are genetically predisposed to be heavy or gain weight or they have a genetic marker that interferes with the signal for satiety so they keep eating, or it plays havoc with their body's fat burning mechanism. I suppose I read up on it, but I am busy eating ice cream and cake.
