Are all Ukrainians dangerous racists?
Discussion
No surprise to me.
Backward, abrasive and insular (a significant minority that is) and openly racist over here too.
I've met some pretty ghastly Poles, Czechs, Russians and Estonians, who just cannot get their heads around multicultural Britian. Their views rise to the surface quickly and are on a par with Mein Kampf, base and massively bourne out of an inferiority complex.

Don't forget that much of the Eastern block spent the majority of the 20th century living in a vacuum, I doubt that their thinking in terms of racism has moved with the times, attitudes probably not a million miles away from the west in the 1920's. Hopefully, this football tournament will highlight the problems and kick start their Governments to do something about it.

It isn't just the Eastern Europeans. A friend of mine married an Israeli girl who couldn't understand that anyone might find her interchangability of the words "Palestinian", "Arab" and "Terrorist" crass and offensive.Backward, abrasive and insular (a significant minority that is) and openly racist over here too.

Similarly I went out with a girl whose father had remarried a South African woman who already had an older son. When he came to the UK he just didn't understand that we thought of black and Asian people as equals rather than some kind of sub-species. He really thought that we were kidding him on.

One thing you've neglected in your very accurate description, is how readily violent they are and how little they care for human life.
I'll never step foot in Eastern Europe again if I can possibly help it. I've always found it to be NASTY part of the world - hell, a load of this lot were still slaughtering each other as recently as the 1990's.

I suppose that really we could look on the bright side of all this and be pleased that attitudes in Britain have changed so much over the last 30-40 years, that we now regard behaviour like the above as backwards and offensive.
there are problems, I will admit. But at the most it's a very small % of the various groups that are at it.At the end of the day almost everyone wants to live in peace and have some prosperity for their children's future.

Never understood Neo-nazis in Eastern Europe. What are they going to do, exterminate themselves?
Quite often see swastikas on buildings, and the like, and you still can find many vendors selling 'white power' t-shirts in the markets. Edited by TheHeretic on Friday 8th June 18:35

Thank god it's only football, it would be worse if it affected something important!
Indeed, just cancel the chavball & it's all sorted. In my experience...the UK is the most inclusive and accomodating society in the world. Eastern Europe has a problem of racism and I know quite a few asian people who have travelled there who feel very intimidated and would never go there again. No one will do anything about the Euro until a few foreign fans get hurt. That is when teams will withdraw from the tournament and Uefa will look like tts.

I get the impression that a lot of people on this site hate it though. When you ask is there any video footage and arrests I assume you mean footage other than the footage of the "fans" punching seven shades of, er, stuff, out of the non-white fans and by arrests I assume you missed the part that the punchers were completely and deliberately ignored by the stewards and the Police attending.
Overt racism, extreme right wing politics and violence is much more common and obvious at football stadia across eastern Europe than it is in the UK.
