I can't remember what the salary point is where an individual becomes a net contributor to the state but I think it's quite high (circa £60k).
Wouldn't this point vary considerably according to no. kids, health, lifestyle, etc?I found the above article interesting as 60k seemed high enough to be more designed to give the PH directors something else to feel superior to everyone else about.
Although from 2012 it suggests around a 40k household income (although heavily dependant on number of kids, education received etc).

Why not just drag them from their homes and send them to a labour camp, and burn their kids for free fuel? And then bum their dog...if they haven't got a dog then the DWP can provide one to be bummed
Confiscate dogs on string from tramps. Then give them to benefit claimants. And then bum them. Sorted.wolves_wanderer said:

My point stands however that some of the 'eat the poor' club on here are likely to be net 'takers' from the system and, as such, should be happy to wear their leach badge I found the above article interesting as 60k seemed high enough to be more designed to give the PH directors something else to feel superior to everyone else about.

Restricting where claimants can spend our tax. I'm all in favour but I imagine the yooman raahts brigade will be up in arms. The proles need to buy their fags and get down the bookies innit.
Can I assume that by happy coincidence the "approved" places to spend money will be owned by Party donors etc?!!?Funkycoldribena said:
Would ALL gas and electric companies take the card?
many people on benefits especially JSA and short term ESA are on pre-payment meters , i'm quite sure paypoint will accept these pre-paid debit cards Funkycoldribena said:
What happens when the plumbing bursts in the middle of the night, have you got to find a plumber that will take the card?
as most people on out of work benefits live in rented property they ring the agent / landlord who settles on account - unless you own your property outright before you go onto benefits you are unlikely to be able to fund maintaining your own property - as HB does not cover mortgages and the help for mortgage interest has a six month qualification period when you are expected to use any savings / other assets to fund your mortgage or sell up. What happens when the dog needs the vet?
if you are in such a position to need to have your benefits on the pre-paid card you'll qualify for the PDSA ... Funkycoldribena said:
Will bus companies take the card so people can get to interviews?
many LAs all ready have systems in place for subsidised Public transport for eligible benefit claimantsFunkycoldribena said:
Need a suit for interviews, will Matalan take the card?

Kids need uniform that only one shop sells (yes this is true, complete monopoly on badged uniform where I live),will he take the card?
the kind of choatic lifestyle benefit claimant who is forced into the pre-paid card would bbe on FSM and therefore get a seperate school uniform allowance from the LA - which have usually been i nthe form of vouchers/ warrants any way.Funkycoldribena said:
The list is endless, ridiculous idea. Also never get why people moan about unemployed smokers because most of that money goes straight back to the government.
only ridiculous if you think that people who live the comfortable PHer lifestyle can do so on benefits and if they are of the kind of choatic lifestyle claimant tohe cards will initially be targetted towards ... mph1977 said:
stuff
I think the powerfuly built of PH-ville want ALL dolescum on these cards, no matter what ,not just the lifelong feckless/chaotic/junkies, but those made redundant or who have lost their job when a wonderful capitalist type nicks all the companys cash & does a bunk/phoenix. Cant happen unless there is a totally cashless economy-what happens if you need to pay the car park fees,or need a pee at the train station?

I got £25 a month in about 1981 and were only redeemable at certain outlets, and for food and soft drinks. Now I know they were paper and we live in an electronic world, but the "market" for these "smartcards" will be exactly the same as "LV's".
Never short of fags and booze, or 75p in the pound on the trading floor.

Who cares if benefit claimants spend all their money on booze and fags? That way most of it comes back to the Treasury in taxation.
As stated earlier, if they are given money to look after their kids then they should be spending it on toys, food etc, not sky, booze and fags.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
