Of course they think it.
Taking the time to point it out is what makes someone a bit petty.
Why?Taking the time to point it out is what makes someone a bit petty.
Do we now live in a society where advising people of their error is seen as a bad thing?

What is your motivation, are you trying to help improve it or just being a tt? Do we now live in a society where advising people of their errors is seen as a bad thing?
Considering the grammar police have their own thread where they post examples up, that helps no one improve their grammar, so I would say the vast majority do it, because they are sad sacks.
When you don't have much in your life you nit pick faults to make you feel better, that is a proven fact.

It depends if the motive is to help or to embarrass.Do we now live in a society where advising people of their errors is seen as a bad thing?
I think for those that do this asking yourself "Would I do the same with an email from a customer or my boss or the CEO?" is a good test.

Illiterates seize on meaningless report, compiled by those with nothing better to do, to hit out at those with superior understanding. No surprise there.
Next they’ll be telling us “I would of........” is an acceptable use of our language.

Would you correct a poster whose maths was wrong?
For instance 2+2=5? Or maybe an error in a quadratic equation?
Would you hold back because you might be accused of elitism?
Yet the English language and maths are both merely ways to communicate, to describe.
Some of the most beautiful use of English is in poetry. It is, many feel, the best way of conveying emotion. On the other hand, some of the most remarkable poetry, the stuff that stays in the mind weeks, perhaps months, after reading comes from the trenches. Yet grammar, punctuation and apostrophe use are often idiosyncratic.
Would I correct the spelling, grammar and improper use of words of a poster on PH? It depends on who posted it and their intent in doing so. If they are posing just a little, then perhaps not. But if they are on one of my many lists, then most certainly.
One thing that really does get to me and I will correct regardless of who posted is where the word tautology is used when it is, quite clearly, a pleonasm. Does that make me pedantic?

And especially so when their own damn site contains grammar like this, I'd feel ripped off if a 5 year old charged my 50p to come up with this: http://www.tms-webdesign.co.uk/
You're right. Total saddo. I do value correct grammar and spelling, but not those who can't help themselves but point trivialities out, particularly when they're on the losing side of an argument and seem to be convinced that my spelling error somehow validates every assertion they've made and negates every point I've made about something entirely unrelated.
