It's the ultimate force escalation, a guarantee that nobody will ever get to dictate what we do via military force or the threat of military force. That might seem a ridiculous requirement at the moment - who would threaten us? Things change quickly in the world though.

Have you ever visited a country without nuclear weapons? And did it really cause you to lose sleep?

No but lets just say we scrap the lot, it kicks off somewhere and theres a huge stand off with russia for example. What will we have to deter a strike? A couple of aircraft carriers and a strongly worded letter to the russian ambassador?

why would there be a huge stand off with Russia?
