IMHO yes you are, an "eye-for-an-eye" type attitude is one of the biggest problems we face as a species.

I can't bring myself to read the story, I'll well up. The child had broken ribs for days before her death, according to R5 last night. You do not, ever, EVER, lose your temper with a child and hit them. A spank for being naughty is one thing, but this was an absolute, repeated, and sustained hiding. I don't care if it's an eye for an eye, I would love to take a hammer to that scum every time he even makes a sound.

"Bob, can I just..."

Smack with a hammer on his hand.

"Ow"

Smack with a hammer, only harder, on his knee.

"Stop it!"

Smack with a hammer, only harder still, right on his knob.

ad infinitum. With the occasional pan of boiling water thrown over him to keep him awake. And a belt sander to keep his senses up.

Actually, I can think of plenty more painful things I could do to him. I hope he is destroyed by "decent" parent types inside.

Was he unemployed?

I sat on a jury to a similar case, both parents unemployed.

I know most of the left nowadays views unemployment as a lifestyle choice, but im a firm believer in the devil makes work of idle hands and think we will see this become ever more common as work is offshored, and migrants come to do the remaining jobs.

right up with you until the last sentence.... its not the migratns fault that most of the UK labourforce are workshy idle wasters- the work has to get done by somebody.
Its not their, fault, its the systems fault - the fact that its in many peoples financial interests not to work. They merely provide the oil to lubricate the system. I dont intend to 'blame' immigrants, rather the system.

The man who beat the little lad wasn't unemployed. I don't know if we should assume this abuse mainly seems to occur amongst the unemployed society, although there may be facts to back this up that I don't know about.

And yet in stark contrast I think that permitting such scum to live without being painfully hurt is one of the biggest problems we face as a species, namely the retribution levied against scum like this is insufficient to discharge the obligation the state holds under the social contract to the citizens.
