Yep. That rationale shows that they are very misguided if they think they are doing it in the name of religion. Politics and power more like.
Certainly true, however, if it wasn't for the religious aspect, I doubt they would commit suicide.
Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori?

Almost as misguided as dying in some godforsaken patch of dirt over a combination of childlike morality and oil.

I would argue in many ways religion offers them an excuse for their behaviour.

What's ours?

Well, they have the guise of religion as a tool to recruit folks, we have democracy to cover our arses when in reality it is looking after our own interests.

To the people, the 'tool' is genuine, (the religious nutter, or the patriotic flag waver), but they are mere tools themselves.

Couldn't agree more. Just two ways to achieve the same goal.

A powerful thing is fear.

As a young kid, I used to make toy guns out of bits of wood, used to play army (pongo as I now call it smile ), and used to pretend I was a soldier. From a young age I always wanted to join up, is that indoctrination?

I don't think this is a million miles away from what I used to do as a 5 yr old.

Suicide bombing is one of their weapons against their targets.

It's seems wrong to us, but what are your views on seeing a 5 yr old boy in a shopping centre pointing a toy pistol at people and going bang?
Is that kid going practicing for a shopping mall masacre?
Clever "internet forum point", but do you really believe what you wrote?

The fundamental difference between these kids and your childhood is that you were most likely taught by your parents the difference between right and wrong. I doubt you were encouraged by adults like the children in this video clearly have.

The West have used Nuclear weapons in the past. You don't see western kids in the playground reenacting what happened in Hiroshima do you? Why, because it would be messed up. Messed up like children playing suicide bombers.

You see this is the exact kind of thing I don't understand...

Do you honestly believe these children aren't taught right from wrong because they are, presumably, from a fundamentalist Islamic background? I would bet a large sum that they acutely aware of morality. It's just their interpretation of current events is probably polar opposite to most of our own.

"The West" to these people are invaders and evil. These folk are clever enough to know they don't stand a chance in conventional warfare so they employ tactics which are incredibly difficult to counteract like suicide bombers.

Do young boys not dream of dying for their country as a hero? Is it really so different to die in a uniform than it is to strap a bomb to yourself?

I do think that they are told that suicide bombers are martyrs, and are somewhat seen as heroes, so yes, I do think the standards are somewhat different.

Easy answer. The children in the video are clearly NOT being taught right from wrong. Watch the video again.

If that exploded it would be a catastrophe. I don;t think he actually wants to go through with it. Maybe he is feline a bit guilty?

I'm sure many arab countries would find it equally disturbing that western kids play soldiers all day, have action men and toy guns.
I used to run around with my toy machine gun shooting people and playing dead as a kid, I guess in their eyes this is their alternative, plus throwing dirt doesn'tcost anything.
