Trying to reason in my head why we still have restrictions, I have come up with...
1] There are other reasons, and Covid is a handy excuse.
2] We don't want to go first, so nothing will really change until another country says 'it's over...as you were'.

It's 1.

Sweden never did lockdown, Florida opened up ages ago, Texas months ago. Even New York has lifted restrictions.

Had talk radio on the past 2 days in the background. It really is a breath of fresh air (pardon the pun).

No MSM propaganda, just common sense and facts

Apart from fully backing vaccine passports.

Other than that, yes, I would agree.

They have even covered adverse effects.

Irrespective of views on lockdown and the efficacy of not of masks (especially outside) I find that such a sad image. Our oldest people are living out their lives in fear. People who've worked their whole lives and should be enjoying the fruits of that labour have been terrified by the messages emanating from government. Similarly our children are being taught that contact with other people is something to fear and avoid.

It's a horrible way to live.
It may not be necessary but have you discussed this with them or are you just projecting your view?

I see very few here but when working in London a decade ago I regularly saw tourist from the Far East wearing masks all the time. It was extremely common.

My GF here is a language teacher and her S Korean student said it is considered mannerly to wear a mask if infected even with a cold.

Different mindset.

BTW I worked for Intel and guess what we had to wear in the Clean Room all day long?

Plenty of people wear a face covering when skiing in cold conditions.

Scuba divers wear wet suits, so what?
A complete off topic response.

Is there no limit to your inanity?

We were discussing masks worn over the mouth.

It did not take long for you to descend into profanity.

No we weren’t. I was discussing face masks imposed on the population because of the pandemic. The U.K. I’m June 2021 is neither Tokyo nor Val D’Isère in the ski season. The reason you get such hostile responses here is because you try to have a smart arse response for everything. It’s tedious. If you can’t acknowledge the personal effect this is having on people, even if you think that’s a price worth paying, you’re always going to be disregarded.

Here's are some questions our 'free press' should be asking and telling us on the daily TV and radio news updates on Covid deaths:

- How many of the 5-10 daily 'Covid deaths' we are being told are happening right now are 'with' not 'because' of Covid?
- What is the age profile of these fatalities (I suspect the very old)?
- Did they have underlying health conditions?
- How people many died in the UK in total on that particular day (it will be between 1, 500 - 2, 000)?
- What were the percentages (and numbers) of cause of death of these from cancer, heart disease etc?

Why after 18 months of this sh*t is the media still playing numbers games with us, and isolating any deaths from Covid from any form of context or reasonable explanation?

This whole sh*tshow really stinks....
Simple - because it's done and dusted. When they turn around and explain that out of the 8 deaths, 2 were from September, 3 were 85+ and had severe underlying health issues and would've died anyway and the other 3 got ran over but tested positive a day before people will cease to play the game.

Remember, we're told just enough. No more, no less.

You sure? I listen to talkRADIO all the time and 1) various presenters have different opinions, and 2) I've not heard any of them say "vaccine passports are a good idea". They might have said "vaccine passports for foreign travel might be required by other nations" but I've not heard any of their presenters backing domestic vaccine passports. I avoid James Whale though.

Hi Nick, do you ever consider tempering your responses and perhaps being a little 'nicer'? You've obviously lots to say, but it's apparent to me in a short time that your abrasive, know-it-all tone just irritates the hell out of people. Might be worth a try, non?

I listen to TR all the time. Of the hours I’ve listened to, my view is that they are,
in the main, pro vaccine for the vulnerable, against it for children, definitely against domestic passports and accepting of foreign travel vaccine passports.

Don't bother feeding the height issue tt or any of the others.
Anyway, I haven't watched TV news for over a year until now - it was weird just watching ITV news. The presenters have not aged well!!!!
They appeared to take bat-flu very seriously, including a piece involving the vaccine minister in a very posh looking studio surrounded by flags & some surprisingly harsh lighting. Poor chap looked like he was almost blinded!
There seemed to be many hints that 19/07/2021 will actually go ahead, but the delta plus (or whatever they called it), will probably throw a spanner in the works.
Looks like Israel, which had just about ditched most of its restrictions, are now on the verge of reinstating face nappies, & not opening up tourism until August. Israel is on the UK green list, but they won't let anyone in anyway! Farcical.
Meanwhile, back to the football - much more interesting

Not heard them backing them myself, but as I say, I’m only a couple of days into actually listening to it

And James Max - he's become a bit of a virtue signaller post vaccination.

The rest though, considering the constraints they have to work under, are pretty spot on.

The bloke doesn't live in the UK. You can disregard pretty much all of what he says on life in the UK during this pandemic.

Ok, I’ll correct that.

Accepting of foreign travel vaccine passports.

But based on other countries inevitable adoption - which doesn’t appear to be the case (entirely).

It appears our own country is the one imposing them but on return, not departure.

I think I’ll go to the Winchester and wait for this to all blow over.

Which as i pointed to Eddiesteadygo on the vaccine thread, large % of people getting rounded up to be jabbed is not at the moment ever going to prove a panacea as long as the politicians keep on obsessing about cases because at some point, like Israel they will run out of adults to get jabbed. What then if cases start rising again as they inevitably will....?

There's the option of jabbing up kids next which they might attempt to further reduce cases - for the time being. But again as I keep on saying, jabbing people to keep infections down isn't a long term solution to keep cases low forever. Well unless one thinks eternally getting booster for everyone is a viable future.
