Just got the letter so tried to book my jab

Nearest Centre is 90 mine each way and it cant do the second jab

Stupid system - I know for a fact that the nearest place to me that vaccinates is 8 minutes away and the next nearest is 15 mins away

I guess they must be booked up, but thats odd as I live in a rural area with low population density.
I would take the opportunity for a state sanctioned day trip out and go the scenic route as well, take a picnic.

You could also try phoning your doctors surgery to see if there is an issue at the other center, they may have manning issues or something.

Edit to add; I have just been told that our local centre has shut for a couple of days due to lack of supply of the vaccine, new stocks expected over the weekend.
Things may well be different depending on geography. Around here, an elderly neighbour was offered a local site which has never appeared on the national website. She enquired at her GP surgery and was told that to get offered a booking there, you have to wait for the GP letter not the national hubs letter pointing you to the national website. It may well be there's a similar system in other locations. There are new locations coming online over time so the national hubs list may be extended at any time (apparently).

I tried calling my Doc, they said I had to go via the system, the nearest centre is my Doc but they said it would be weeks until they could do it as they are not on to under 60's yet, so they are lagging other areas. Its not a scenic day out - its in Walsall West Midlands, only route is via the M5 without making it a massively longer journey frown

Read the letter that came, on the back it tells you what will happen if you cant travel to the centre or its too far for you.

Got my letter today (NE Scotland) for Monday 22nd March

46, with some long term/incurable neurological illnesses diagnosed 10 years ago. Certainly don't feel vulnerable, but will get it done smile

There's two rollouts basically, the "mass vaccination centres" and your local GP. The letter is if you can get to one of the centres, otherwise you can sit tight until your GP gets to your name in the list.

My parents were offered it a week earlier at a place only a bit further away than where they knew the GP group's vaccination centre was, but they waited for the GP route. (Quite why I have no idea, they are retired and have nothing else to do!)

Walsall have got capacity as they were given extra supply and blasted through the groups because of the South African variant being found there. They've also done pretty much every education worker as well so they're obviously running out of people to do.

I received the invitation last weekend and booked myself in 22 March at Bath Racecourse - nowhere closer available.

Received text from GP Surgery today offering a slot this Saturday morning at the surgery. Much better. bounce

Are there still supply issues as this is a long way down on the average never mind the peaks.

Once supply is resolved, you then need to distribute+book people in.

In other words, there's a built-in lag to supply fluctuations. Check this next week.

There are still supply issues, full flow starts next Monday, so will be revealed in the numbers published next Tuesday.

Tell me about it mate. It's starting to affect my hearing!

Barbers reopens 12th April. I will be there at opening.

If I was in the position that there was a local site and I could only get a distant booking, I'd turn up at my local one and feign ignorance and stupidity, and have "lost" my SMS and letter. I can't imagine if you are in the right age group they'd turn you away, unless they'd completely run out of vaccines.

Wales is really pushing the 2nd doses now by the looks of the figures but falling behind on some areas in England on numbers below 60. Went past the local vaccine centre to us and there was a steady number of cars on site. Did see a comment saying the supply issue is now sorted itself out and we as in wales have plenty for the rest of the month. Hopefully numbers bump up next week.

No idea. If you want my slot it was 0830 Monday 22 March.
When I cancelled online it automatically cancelled the second appointment too.

I think you'll find it difficult to find a vaccine centre with an in-house barber; but please let us all know if you are successful in your search laugh

There was a notice on the door of the one I went to saying exactly that, together with a hi-vis'ed security bloke who asked for your appointment number and had a list of the valid ones for that day. There was an enquiry desk but it was in a separate building completely.

This was a large vacc centre though, I doubt if they'd have a bouncer at a local surgery...
