Our roads are just full of idiots. No wonder they manage to kill each other even on empty roads.
Dashcam of a 1st lane Lorry needlessly hitting a middle lane car is in todays news. Happened yesterday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4837058/Ch...hyphen said:

Unfortunately, collision such as this, due to cars being in HGV's blind spots when they change lane seems to be a common occurance.Blind spot my arse. Most of these chislers bully their way out thinking they are a law to themselves. It is impossible to do a journey in this country of more than an hour without coming across some lorry weilding maniac. The police should enforce it with zero tolerence.
I have C+e and D+e so understand the need to make progress and at times 'command' the road. However, the lane changing antics of some of the current crop beggars belief.
I've said it on here before on a different thread. We are importing other countries very poor standards of driving for some reason, it shouldn't be tolerated. The commonality of foreign drivers to be drunk is alarming. The police use HGV's to nab them ffs.....

Absolutely agree. I drive the M25 every day and lorry drivers just don't seem to give a crap.I have C+e and D+e so understand the need to make progress and at times 'command' the road. However, the lane changing antics of some of the current crop beggars belief.

Today I was approaching the Dartford Tunnel. The traffic was pretty dense so we were all moving at about 20mph nose to tail.
I was in L3 heading for the right tunnel, and a truck in L2 started indicating to move over. I slowed to allow a gap for him to pull in.
The next truck in L2 also decided he wanted to be in L3 so he started pulling into my lane. He just kept edging over trying to force me out of the way but I had nowhere to go. Eventually I had to jam the brakes and hit the horn as the front wheel nuts were about to take my mirror off.
When I got to work I fired off an email to the fleet managers contact details on their website, and got a response a few hours later just saying..."thanks for letting us know"

Are Romanian vehicles left hand drive?
A quick Google will inform you that they drive in the middle of the road ...only joking

I thought the minimum was 10/% + 2. So should it be 3+2=35?
That's the discretion given to the police. The actual speed limit is still the law.98elise said:

Not all, more and more uk operators are exploiting loopholes in European regs that save vast amounts of money if you run Bulgarian / Romanian units over here, so long as you run in Europe a lot it's astonishing the money saved in taxes, insurance, running costs and of course wages......Nickyboy said:
Yeah, the trailer of the stationary truck in lane one.
Must admit I've thought about that. Tautliner trailers will just fold like a matchbox cover, really very little structural strength in them, but the AIM trailer was a box van & more to the point, a chiller trailer, so heavier, insulated, strong internal & external walls & in all likelihood, at least one set of steel bar locators running the length of each internal wall.Even then, the damage to the Fedex truck looks excessive to me for a corner strike to a trailer.
If you look at the crash pics, hgv2 has corner impact right on the F of Fed Ex on the roof spoiler, and pretty much equal damage across the front. It was no corner strike, pretty much full frontal.
My money is on hgv1 stopped in L1, minibus in L1 at 55ish, hgv2 right up his rump, then smack , both straight into hgv1, with only seconds to stand on the anchors for hgv2. That's why dangerous driving charge, too close.

Yeah, tailgating into a stopped truck looks like the most probable cause, right now.My money is on hgv1 stopped in L1, minibus in L1 at 55ish, hgv2 right up his rump, then smack , both straight into hgv1, with only seconds to stand on the anchors for hgv2. But the photo on the very first item in this thread shows the Fedex appears to have hit the rear offside of the trailer, not straight into the back.My money is on hgv1 stopped in L1, minibus in L1 at 55ish, hgv2 right up his rump, then smack , both straight into hgv1, with only seconds to stand on the anchors for hgv2.
