You could always have a pop at the nurse who’s going around the country talking about the fear of speaking out and asking questions about covid.vaccination policy in the nhs?

That_nurse_who_asks_questions
No, I am having a pop at the twitter account that has been cited on here as legit and also posted the batst claim that her relative, along with the relatives colleagues, were involved in a cover up conspiracy and all paid £200.

I think that smells of bullst.

That is why I asked the person who posted the tweet why we should believe the publisher of the information rather than any of the other 150 million accounts active every day on that platform.

No, at best it’s 5 times worse, it’s actually believed to be up to ten times worse. This really isn’t the flu, or a cold. The sooner people wake up, the better.
My wife is an NHS hospital consultant. In a normal flu season she doesn't go to work expecting to find several of her colleagues are patients in intensive care. Four very highly regarded staff died in the first wave from her trust. Two were in their forties. One was 30.

If COVID-19 is "just flu" it's a truly special kind of flu. It certainly doesn't only kill and maim the oldest and most frail in society, despite what some people claim based on selective reading of social media. And there is a reason why people under 50 are being urged to get vaccinated as well as those older and those with preexisting conditions.
Course they did.
Go on?

More power for the PM to choose who he wants / control what he wants?

Because that's gone well so far...

is it that clear cut? You have people on the extreme reduced immunity end, not just her others, and how easy viruses can spread, it seems common sense really. it is like comparing a carrot and Donald trump, both are orange doesn't mean they are similar.

You compared it to a mild flu season. Feel free to to let me know the last time a mild flu season knocked off 153,000 people and we can continue.
We were 20k deaths down on average in 2019, and 85k up in 2020, so net 60k extra deaths. In 2015 we were 45k up from the year previously, and we didn’t even notice. Your 153k figure is over 2 years and just doesn’t really register quite frankly as anything over the norm, as much as you want it to.

What happens when you have a series of years of old people not dying, is that they get older, and at some point they will all die, resulting in a higher death rate of that age group at a particular time. You need to understand this
The age thing is interesting, for anybody under 70 it is no more dangerous than flu, in fact unless you have other things wrong with you it is considerably less fatal. This letter published in the BMJ explains...
letter said:
Clearly, mortality is age-stratified from covid-19. The corrected median estimates of IFP for people aged lower than 70 years is currently 0.05%, [2] which, for the population less vulnerable to deaths, is similar to influenza. However overall estimates for covid-19 are higher, due to the higher fatality rate in elderly people.
https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m3883/rr

This is being clearly shown in the number of deaths which has been below average for the last 16 weeks. We are likely to have
a far lower number of deaths overall this year than we have for many years, although it is likely next year will be even lower.

And what of personal agency and determining one's own risk tolerance?

We're all gonna die at some point, to put it bluntly.

If it's going to be sooner and it makes one happier in the process, surely that's in the NHS's best interests, given how cash-strapped and over-stretched they apparently are.

10 out of 120 staff in one department at my local NHS hospital are told to self isolate and cannot work for 2 weeks, they announced on

Because they come into contact with Covid

But they can go into Contact with Covid at work, without needing to isolate

I find that odd?

Masks look to be here to stay as a poll showed three-quarters of Britons plan to keep wearing them on public transport.

An exclusive poll for MailOnline has found that 72 per cent of the public are likely to don coverings to go on the train, Tube or bus after they become voluntary on 'Freedom Day'.

Two-thirds say they will keep the habit in shops and cinemas - while 32 per cent even expect to do so in parks, according to the research by Redfield & Wilton Strategies.

Some 64 per cent would back businesses barring customers who refuse to put on masks, and significant proportions would feel uncomfortable inside with others bare-faced.

Indeed.

Yet 'the rules' in hospitals are totally black and white.

Up to 40% of 'Covid hospital patients' infected with Delta variant may have been admitted for a different illness, official figures suggest

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9772259/4...

A total of 1,904 people in England had spent at least one night in hospital with the mutant virus by June 21

But 739 (39%) may have gone to hospital for other condition and tested positive through routine NHS testing

Experts said findings show chunk of admissions reported by Government every day will be 'incidental cases'

PHE's figures also show that of the Indian variant patients who presented at A&E by June 21, just over three in 10 spent the night in hospital, with the rest sent home on the same day.
