Assuming it was terrorist, there's no reason to rush to claim responsibility until the authorities decide it is a terrorist incident, all the conjecture and uncertainty suits the terrorist cause and any trails or clues to contacts or accomplices are getting colder all the time. Undoubtedly if it was a suicide terrorist, a martyrdom video has been left and will be produced in due course.
This would make sense... although in the case of other terrorist acts, responsibility had been claimed minutes/hours after an attack..
Indeed, they are usually not shy in coming forward in order to encourage others to join their cause.

The latest theory being:

A startling new hypothesis being considered is that parts of a meteor that broke up in the Earth's atmosphere could have taken out the plane over the Mediterranean.

Sorry, I know we're talking about 66 dead people here, but fk me. I mean, if you don't laugh, you'll end up punching your fist through your keyboard.

What next? Godzilla rises from the deep and swipes the plane out of the sky?

As a summary of the last 25 pages can someone confirm that the one thing we're certain is that an aircraft has disappeared and bits of it have been found in the sea? Oh thats two things

Even 'official' information is being released and retracted at an alarming rate. For now I would just assume a plane is missing.

While we are speculating wildly, remember that TWA 747 that blew up near New York a while back? Thought to be faulty wiring in a fuel tank iirc. So there is form for an airliner just to blow up by accident.

There has been no news since this thread was raised. Just speculation.
Anyone that uses a PH thread for 'news' is a bit silly no?

Its a place for discussion. Why do people think any different?
I just wondered what filled 25+ pages. Seems a waste of electricity

I read today that 2 autopsy personnel had both confirmed that the body part sizes were so small the 'plane can only have exploded mid air, and also that it did not descend to lose altitude. Not sure I believe any of it though.

The "black boxes" haven't been located yet, right?

When do their batteries run out?

Locator beacons run for quite a long time, can be months. Data should last a lot longer than that.

I mean, I know any sea is big, but isn't the med like seriously chocked full of ships and boats? Am I wrong to be surprised it wasn't found relatively quickly?

That area is very deep, and it is a pretty large search area. But you'd think they'd have a pretty tough idea where it was.

Of course, they could have been destroyed in the 'event'.

It's not like there's a huge Airbus bobbing around on the surface and any evidence is going to sink pretty quickly
