Mainly short term it seems, as found by Israel as well.

It's grimly amusing that the much trumpeted myocarditis from covid (as per endless quotes from a flawed article by some) has turned out not to be the case but myocarditis from the vaccines, widely dismissed earlier by much the same group now seems far more likely....
But at a rate of 0.005% that must be about the same as other vaccines?

Or have I misunderstood?

Telegraph reporting masks will become optional:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-...

Article says: 'Face masks will become optional when Freedom Day finally materialises, but wearing the coverings may still be "advisory" in some settings, a Cabinet minister has warned.'

If this is true, I wonder how many people will still wear the bloody things? Nick, are you there? Will you continue to wear one??

The ACIP slide has helpfully provided an 'expected' column to compare against 'observed'......

I never wear one outside anyway but I could see a situation inside where I may wear one. I spend little time indoors this time of year. Hopefully by 19 July many more will have been vaccinated so the chances of meeting an unvaccinated and infectious person will be much reduced.

I do not visit chain type restaurants or large pubs so I'd argue my risks are quite low.

If they remain as guidance/best practise I reckon there is every chance workplaces etc will continue to mandate them. As covid seems to be viewed as a disease employers can prevent, they will be reluctant to remove any perceived preventative measures.

Must be horrible to work for a business that mandates them! Fortunately for me, there is no requirement...

Received this just now.

You recently signed the petition “Do not rollout Covid-19 vaccine passports”:
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/569957

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (a group of MPs who look into issues relating to the UK constitution and civil service) has published a report which calls for the Government to scrap any plans to introduce domestic Covid-status certification, also known as Covid passports.

The Government has suggested that such a system, based on proof of vaccination or a negative test result, could help manage the disease in future, allowing the economy to reopen and social restrictions to be lifted. It is currently undertaking a review into whether (and how) such a system could be introduced.

However, the MPs on the Committee said the Government had so far failed to make the scientific case in favour of the system, and raised concerns that such a system could “disproportionately discriminate” against people on the basis of their race, religion, age or socio-economic background. They concluded plans for Covid passports were "unnecessary" and "unjustified".

Read the report (HTML):
https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5802/cmsel...
Not read the full report yet although given the conclusion that they are unnecessary and unjustified, the government will probably bring them in!

However, the saving Grace is that IIRC Labour are against the idea and hopefully there are enough Tory MP with the balls to oppose it. My MP has said he doesn’t agree although he has form for saying one thing and then voting with the government!

Nick, I've said this over and over again. If you are vaccinated, what is the issue with meeting someone unvaccinated?

Also, unvaccinated doesn't always mean infectious. You could still be infectious even if you are vaccinated.

To be infectious you have to have covid and have sufficient viral load for you to pass it on. In other words, you need to be ill. Not everyone unvaccinated has covid and I'm still unsure about asymptomatic transmission claims.

It's interesting how the messaging has changed from 'deaths' to 'cases'.

I hope this is true.

Saying that, at the weekend, I went to Tesco, and completely forgot my mask, only noticed when I was at the front of the queue ready to go in. I politely declined a mask from the Tesco lady offering them out to people without.

Felt fantastic not wearing one round a shop, I wasn't the only one either, even a couple of shelf stackers there weren't!

I love the whole "vaccinated vs unvaccinated" thing. I mentioned the other day that my Mrs manager wasn't in work due to a positve LFT test and symptoms. He's now had his PCR test results and they have come back as positive. He was jibing her for not being vaccinated, yet he is double jabbed and now off work for 10 days with COVID, whilst my wife who is un-vaxxed, fit and healthy is symptom free laugh Yeah, we totally need it in our house that hasn't been ill!! P.S I don't wear a mask.

My apologies - won't happen again!
Only to say I'm still un-vaxed, but I don't think I've currently got bat-flu, so therefore not ill/infectious....
Edit: I suppose I could be an asymptomatic super-spreader. The horror!!! Perhaps I should stay at home just in case...

40% rise in kids under 17 being prescribed antidepressants.

It really is win win for big pharma.

Remember, act like you're ill!

I still can't get over that bit of guidance. I suppose we could've all stayed of bed for 18 months, and then awoken to the complete destruction of the country's infrastructure and society.

Unbelievable that so many people genuinely believed we could've had such orders, with food delivered by the army. Missing the obvious supply chain involved in food production, utility supply, healthcare, at the bare minimum. Which if course still would've served as a vector for millions of infections.

But of course these people are ever the ideologues.

No worries - it is extremely tempting I agree and I do chuckle at the posts. My wife thinks he may live in a fantasy world!

Correct about being un vaxxed and not ill - basic common sense says that if you felt ill or had symptoms then you would stay at home until better - clearly not everybody has common sense any more.
