talking of rust why do the main beams of buildings like the shard look like they are rusting already? is it just the colour of the protective paint?

intumescent paint, the steels come pre-finished and then erected

if they take any impact damage they get touched up after

That one gives an impression of just how low rise London is in general. If that was a shot of New York, there would be towers half way to the horizon.
