Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 6
Discussion
BBC reporting Johann Lamont is standing down as Scottish Labour leader, which bodes well for the upcoming elections. No matter who they get in they'll be more effective than Lamont.
The 45ers are currently dreaming of getting a majority of SNP MPs(!) and claiming UDI as a result. Not that either will happen but a new Labour leader will put the final nail in that coffin. I think only after the SNP get their usual 6 teuchter seats will this ste die down for the foreseeable.
Still got the odd cretin driving about with Yes on their cars. Saw one today.
ETA this gem from Bella Caledonia, discussing a YES pact for the 2015 GE...
"SNP undoubtedly have the members, the money and the machine to put up the most candidates, but it won’t work if it takes all the plums. Scottish Greens – under a Yes banner – have an excellent chance in at least two, possibly three seats that I know of, though I’m not privy to any special polling data. SSP will also need to be given a fair shake of target seats where they have a realistic chance of winning."
The Scottish Socialist Party put up 10 candidates in 2010, polling 3157 between them. 300 votes each, or 0.1%. What the fk are these people on?

...Now don't get me wrong, I don't condone drink driving in any way but I'm wondering how many drivers will be caught out from the 5th Dec' onward when the clampdown comes into effect.
It still won't stop you're average Jock (or anyone minded to do so) from going out and having 6 or 7 pints and driving home. They do it now, they'll do it then.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-pol...

I reckon there'll be a considerable increase on 'morning after' convictions where average Joe had a few glasses of something the night before and set off ten minutes too early to go to his perfectly respectable job after a good nights sleep.
Those who flaunt the drink driving rules will continue to do so countrywide. Scotland isn't an exception.
Scottish Labour leader resigns, accuses party of viewing Scotland as a branch office and of not appreciating the change the referendum has brought about. Got to say I agree. I was a no voter, but I felt like Ned Stark killing Sansa's wolf when I voted in vain hope that Westminster would somehow manage to sort it's st out... in hindsight that seems at least as fanciful as anything in the SNP whitepaper.

I also voted in vain. Like many others (known as the majority) I voted for no change. And now we're getting more powers in spite of the fact that option wasn't on the ballot paper.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-pol...
When a paper has two options 1) for independence (i.e. change), and 2) against independence (no change) why are we getting all sorts of changes foisted upon us? It fking stinks.

Good point. It should always have been a vote for i) independence, ii) status quo, or iii) devo max. At least in my view. When a paper has two options 1) for independence (i.e. change), and 2) against independence (no change) why are we getting all sorts of changes foisted upon us? It fking stinks.

But you can't vote for three things, all probably end up with a minority and you are no further forwards.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the polls a few years ago suggest a significant majority win for devo max?Cameron then removed that option under the Edinburgh Agreement and now we're faced with an outcome which was never on the table.

We are faced with a decision where the majority of Scots would rather it stays as it is than went to independence. So leaving it as it is seems like first choice.Cameron then removed that option under the Edinburgh Agreement and now we're faced with an outcome which was never on the table.

Still no comment from any Pro Yes about this extra EU tax - will they increase income tax to pay for it or cut NHSWelshbeef said:
