Whist it is true that no matter what happens Trumps true supporters will never abandon him, no matter what... However his true supporters are very few in number. A lot of card carrying republicans are finding it very difficult to vote republican and the swing states have taken a huge turn towards against them.

Trump got in on a huge smear campaign against someone who wasn't very popular. The Democrats have learned that lesson and next time they will have someone a lot more palatable.

I think its unfair to lump all Americans in with Trump supporters. More people did vote for Hillary after all.

Huge turnout for the democrats in Florida as Andrew Gillum is the first African American to win a major-party nomination for governor.
Really?

I think he means first nominee for governor in FL, not generally.

That seems an entirely sensible view of the situation.

Pence is really keeping his head down. Can't remember the last time I saw him and Trump pictured together. Is he biding his time until the legal problems get too big for Trump?

I wonder if/when his team will quietly see if there's enough political support to allow them to throw Trump under an impeachment bus. Maybe if the mid-terms are bad enough?

The smart people among the Republicans must know that Trump's base has nowhere else to go.

Still stalking me I see, you really are butt hurt aren't you!

Keep it up, it is really amusing that you think it bothers me, when in reality it proves I blew a huge hole in your cognitive dissonance and that makes me feel smug.

I'd noticed that as well, but his nose is far from clean on campaign finances, he's also been implicated in misusing campaign donations for personal expenses and his policy and voting record is pretty appalling. I guess the US can take small comfort that he will likely at least respect the tripartite system.

- Wants to jail doctors who perform abortions
- Wants to strip gays of equal rights
- Wants to block legal immigrant workers from gaining citizenship, essential creating a second class people.
- Wants to strip public schools of funding in favour of religious schools.
- Wants to prohibit civil legal action against gun companies.
- Wants to legalise Assault weapons.

That is the question... Maybe he'd just had enough. Several others have.

A funny article on trumps interpretation of the law
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/whatever-t...

First-year students of Trumpian jurisprudence are puzzled to learn that some crimes are legal and some legal acts are criminal.

The bedrock principles of Trumpian jurisprudence can be summarized in his own words:

“No. 1, there is no collusion.”

“No. 2, collusion is not a crime, but even if it was a crime, there was no collusion.”

A corollary holds that obstruction of justice is also not a crime because “it would seem very hard to obstruct justice for a crime that never happened! Witch Hunt!”

By contrast, everything done by special prosecutor Robert Mueller can be placed in one of three baskets of criminal offenses: “illegal,” “ILLEGAL!” or “SO ILLEGAL!”

biggrin

There was talk that Trump wanted to sack him. Apparently he was strongly advocating that Trump DOES NOT pardon Manafort.

Can you imagine being that numpty's brief? What a life, trying to answer ridiculous questions correctly rather than in the 'tell me what I want to hear' way.

Just reading the bbc news website, 2 snippets :

Trump warning of violence if Dems win mid terms.

Trump claiming internet searches/content is 96% left wing/fake news.

With these 2 actions, he's preparing his supporters to ignore anything bad coming from any news channel other than himself and Fox, and preparing them to pick up their rifles to protect themselves from the Dems.

I can't help but feel he's preparing to take the whole country down with him when he's finally removed from office.

Apologies for lack of links, editing on phone...

He is effectively endorsing an armed civil war if the Dems win.

Completely irresponsible

He was doing that on the campaign trail back, warning his 2A followers that Clinton was going to take their guns but that they'd know what to about that (or similar).

He's definitely encouraging armed rebellion if he's removed from office by impeachment or resignation.

There will be blood.

And yet despite what he does (or doesn't do more likely) just announced the US economy grew at 4.2 percent annual rate in second quarter, helped by strong business investment.
