Some years ago I was working on a Blood Service mobile team, collecting donations in the City of London, down by Fenchurch St Station. At the end of the day we loaded our kit and the blood into the truck and set off back to Barts, only to find the way blocked by protesters sitting in the middle of the road. They looked the same lot as the present ER bunch, only they were trying to halt the capitalist system at the time.

Driving the truck that day was a dour old Scottish guy, who got out went up to the protesters and spoke to them for a while. He got back into the driving seat, and the protesters got up and allowed us through. We asked him how he persuaded them to move, and he replied that he had pointed out we were carrying about a hundred units of blood, all of which could be used to save a life, and as there were only about 25 of them, it was probably the best option to let the truck drive slowly over them and get back to base.

Extinction Rebellion are to be offered His n Hers save the planet kits.
For `him' the kit consists of two well weighted house bricks, and sturdy crotch height table (the table is meant to be shared, in a sharing caring sort of way)
For `Her' the kit consists of a tube of superglue, together with a diagram showing where the superglue is to be applied between the knees.
Once used, both the Him and Her XR proponents, can march forward feeling they have done the best thing that they can, to save the planet, and ironically the rest of us, so using the kit represents a win/ win situation. smile
They won't march anywhere after that treatment- maybe hobble a bit but no more than that.
Yes indeed, but that might be seen by many as a further side benefit, of the using the His n Hers XR save the planet kit!.

Yep my thoughts exactly.

They are odd, when I first saw the video I thought she was actually wearing a fake plastic chest over her real chest.
She is wearing a fake plastic chest yes

They wouldn't accept them because you're stating there are only two genders.

Edit apologies.
As noted before this wouldn't be a problem, as the XR proponents could just combine the His N Hers kits, to make sure they are totally inclusive, and cover all the difference in between! smile

If all the XR proponents voluntarily had the `snip' they would each be doing the absolute best thing possible to save the planet, in a putting their money (or rather a part of their anatomy) where their mouth is sort of way.
I wont however be holding my breath, waiting to see them do this.

Apologies for Twitter link, but THIS really is what we need more of from the Met. Right in at that start, don't let the pricks set up, get stuck in aggressively. Of course the XR and usual are complaining vigorously, ooh nasty police, with your carefully curated alternative video of events.

Listen you effing aholes, we understand the point you're trying to make by driving into London with a diesel lorry and blocking roads. We have spent millions dealing with you, too gently imo, millions that could be spent on dealing with proper crimes. Like 5 people in teens and twenties stabbed in Harrow.

Good work by the police there.

There was a large police presence in Newcastle at the weekend for what I’d thought was an extinction rebellion demo but it turned out to be the anti-vaccine lot.

There's an Animal Rebellion demo group on A41 near Aylsebury according to the Bucks Fee Press today, but they're protesting about the climate 'emergency'. Same meat, different gravy. rolleyes

They're back in London Bridge today causing a nuisance. I work nearby and there have been helicopters overheard for a lot of the afternoon and constant sirens flying by - I'm assuming that's the reason anyway. Lots of videos on Twitter of police being a bit heavy handed, but after Boris said a few days ago we're facing the highest terror threat for a while, can you blame them when some nutters pull up in a large vehicle and block the road?

How is it in some situations the Met seem to go in properly and clear them out and sometimes they just let them crack on and cause chaos?

50% of the time they will get slated for being soft, 50% of the time they will get slated for going into heavy, so they mix it up.

So we are not allowed F1 grid girls, but some trollope can peddle her agenda by getting her baps out in the high street whilst families are out and about?
I thought this was 2021?

Blockading the Arla dairy factory. They've said they won't move until Arla agrees to stop selling milk. They might be there a while. I can't work out whether the bunny huggers have jumped on the climate bandwagon or the other way round. It was much simpler when all these protestors just called themselves anti-capitalist.

Been out all day, thankfully nowhere near London or Aylesbury. 11 out of 10 for the police there - dealt with fast and efficiently. Not before time.
