Again apologies for a Twitter link but as Harry Tangye says slippery slope but they do seem a bit rubbish at criminal activity.

Probably a good legal reason they used those tiny pink hammers rather than a 14lbs sledgehammer. I’d suspect the toffee hammer isn’t “coming prepared” so they can’t be arrested for carrying them with intent to cause criminal damage. https://twitter.com/Ex_arv_sgt/status/143306239553...
It’s not about smashing the plate glass and probably armoured window but being seen, photographed, video’d, tweeted attempting to smash the glass. Getting thrown in a meat wagon a couple of hundred metres before doing anything wouldn’t get them likes on SM.

So many Labour voters, the young or Scots are either ignorant or simply don't care?

They were outside the pub I was in last night on London Bridge. I didn’t bother going out to see what was going on but there did seem to be quite a lot of them and nearly as many police.
If it’s an illegal action is there a reason that the police don’t just pick them out one at a time until they are all in the back of vans?
There's probably enough van space, not sure where you'd process so many (and they know that) shame so many police stations were closed. If it’s an illegal action is there a reason that the police don’t just pick them out one at a time until they are all in the back of vans?

I always wonder what these people actually want the world to look like?
They don't know, and don't care, so long as they are in charge.hidetheelephants said:
They're at liberty to make that choice for themselves, as I am for me; I choose the path of settled agriculture, one chosen by the inhabitants of the Tigris and Euphrates valleys, the cradle of civilisation, of agricultural science and the capacity to feed everyone even if not actually choosing to do so. If they want to starve to death in some horrid agrarian nightmare they should be free to do so, just as long as they leave me out.
To be fair I doubt the mesopotamian cultures were big on the use of industrially produced nitrogen fertilisers, and they had significantly fewer people to feed. techguyone said:

My money is on orders from the top. I wouldn't be surprised if Boris's loony ecofruitcake wife is pulling the strings.

A splinter group calling themselves 'insulate britain' have taken it upon themselves to block various junctions on the m25 now.
Looks like they are getting more emboldened.
With tempers high and patience wearing thin in the general public, they might be getting more of the Canning Town treatment. Looks like they are getting more emboldened.

What's actually happening I think is that the eco-nutters, being better organised and funded know how to make sure the police are kept at arms length whereas the 'meet up in London, shout and wave placards' protests can be dealt with by standard crowd policing methods.

The limited clips do appear to show the police standing around watching.
Why cant they just drag them out of the way ?
Exactly, they dont look to be chained up or anything. Why cant they just drag them out of the way ?
Ask them to move and give them 5 minutes to clear up and go.
If not get a few police dogs down the line and move them by force.
This country is a total joke. And the state of that lot too. They are all either 19 years old and zero life experience or some 70 year old who probably has a nice civil service pension and nothing else better to do.
Makes me sick.

Just the online advice for AGs is extensive: https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/a... and there's a lot of in-person training which goes way further than anything they put online.
There are also a lot of group training courses and then, if they are arrested, they have a ton of legal training https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/l... support groups https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/a... and all manner of information for Tabby and Tarquin to lap up as they decide how best to waste the trust fund... https://extinctionrebellion.uk/act-now/resources/
