I think it's more than that. The middle east part of this is still to come out, how trump is obligated to the Saudi's because of money and assistance with the election, based around his property deals there a nd possibly more money laundering. Majeski Act sanctions report against Saudi was due legally from trump last week but he's ignored it.But that's just me being cynical right?
Then there's Kusher using the Saudis to put pressure on Qatar with a blockade when they wouldn't bail out his failed business, which was lifted very shortly after the Qataries gave him funding.

Is this why trump had a flip at the weekend about the investigations against him. Is this why we are now hearing about his attempt to obstruct the SDNY investigations.
The the NY times story has Matt Whitaker, Sean Spicer, and Don McGahn allegedly all trying to stand up to trump, i.e. trying to put them in a good light, meanign they think something is coming and they are trying to get out of it. Then the Qatar government last week said it had no idea they had bailed out Kushner. Rats leaving a sinking ship?

This means they can all have the same defense, with no possibility of any conflict in the stories they present. We know McGahn has been cooperating with Mueller for some time, and suddenly they are trying to use the media to portray these team trump members in a positive light. Bannon has the same lawyer, which means that there's a real possibility that all 4 have turned against trump in an effort to stay out of jail.
