Never-before-heard audio shows how Rudy Giuliani relentlessly pressured and coaxed the Ukrainian government in 2019 to investigate baseless conspiracies about Joe Biden.
The audio is of a July 2019 phone call between Giuliani, US diplomat Kurt Volker, and Andriy Yermak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The call was a precursor to Trump's infamous call with Zelensky, and both conversations later became a central part of Trump's first impeachment, where he was accused of soliciting Ukrainian help for his campaign.
During the roughly 40-minute call, Giuliani repeatedly told Yermak that Zelensky should publicly announce investigations into possible corruption by Biden in Ukraine, and into claims that Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election to hurt Trump. (These separate claims are both untrue.)
"All we need from the President [Zelensky] is to say, I'm gonna put an honest prosecutor in charge, he's gonna investigate and dig up the evidence, that presently exists and is there any other evidence about involvement of the 2016 election, and then the Biden thing has to be run out," Giuliani said, according to the audio. "... Somebody in Ukraine's gotta take that seriously."
The new audio demonstrates how Giuliani aggressively cajoled the Ukrainians to do Trump's bidding. And it undermines Trump's oft-repeated assertion that "there was no quid pro quo" where Zelensky could secure US government support if he did political favors for Trump.

Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, tells CNN that she hasn't yet been called to testify before the Manhattan grand jury, but adds: "I would love nothing more than my day in court and to give a deposition and to provide whatever evidence that they need from me."
Edit: they are speaking to Cohen lots but not Clifford, so prosecutors are pursuing criminal charges against Trump for numerous financial crimes all of which Cohen witnessed, but not for the one specific crime that Daniels witnessed, which was campaign finance fraud?
Is that because campaign finance fraud is a federal crime not a state crime, and at the moment it's New York State that’s currently in the process of indicting Trump? But why aren't SDNY aren’t they investigating trump for campaign finance fraud, or is it already done?. A 16-year-old testified against her father in court on Monday, as prosecutors used against him what they had learned from his children about his resolve to take part in the US Capitol riot.
"My heart is broken. I see people in your family suffering. I see an American family suffering," Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui said at the hearing in Washington on Monday about how politics -- and the Capitol riot -- has divided American families.
During the almost two-hour hearing, the daughter's testimony about her father, Guy Reffitt, a Texas Three Percenter, became one of the most searing examples of how close family and friends have aided investigators with the dragnet following the insurrection. The daughter said she didn't believe her father was dangerous if he were to be released, but thought he had tried to intimidate her and her brother after January 6 as he had discussed keeping his participation quiet.
Reffitt allegedly drove to Washington with guns in his car in the days before January 6 alongside another unnamed member of the Three Percenters extremist paramilitary group, according to the Justice Department's court filings.
After the attack, he returned home to Texas -- where he was met by his 16-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son, who disapproved of his pro-Trump politics. The trio argued, with Reffitt telling his daughter he would put a bullet through her cell phone if she posted about him on social media, according to court records and her testimony at the hearing Monday. He finally told his daughter and son that if they turned him in, they were traitors, and "traitors get shot," his daughter testified.

In a letter sent from behind bars, a key defendant in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol said he and fellow inmates have bonded in jail, and boasted that those attacking the building could have overthrown the government if they had wanted.
The letter is signed “the 1/6ers” and expresses no remorse for the assault on the Capitol, in which five people died. While no names appeared on it, ProPublica was able to determine, through interviews with his family and a review of his correspondence from jail, that it was penned by Guy Reffitt, a member of the Three Percenter right-wing militant group accused of participating in the riot. The letter said the inmates arrested for their role in the attack regularly recite the Pledge of Allegiance inside the Washington, D.C. jail and sing the national anthem “all in unison, loud and proud most everyday.”

Conservative media outlet Newsmax, a favorite of former President Donald Trump's, rejected embattled Republican U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz's request for a job, a spokesperson for the website said on Monday.
Gaetz contacted Newsmax early this year, a source at the outlet said. That was around the time that news broke Gaetz was the subject of a federal investigation into possible sex trafficking of a minor.
"Newsmax has had no plans to hire Rep. Gaetz," said Brian Peterson, a spokesperson for the website.
A source familiar with Newsmax's policies said: "Earlier this year, (Gaetz) reached out and said he might leave Congress early and was interested in TV work."
The three-term Florida congressman's approach to Newsmax management was "just a conversation" and Newsmax "never told him we were interested" in hiring him, the source said.

Oregon House Republicans broke their silence Monday on allegations against Rep. Mike Nearman, calling on the controversial lawmaker to resign days after new evidence that Nearman plotted with supporters before allowing an incursion of the state Capitol in December.
“Today we strongly recommend that you resign from the Oregon State House of Representatives, House District 23 position,” reads a letter signed by all 22 Republican House members besides Nearman. “Given the newest evidence that has come to light regarding the events of December 21, 2020, it is our belief as friends and colleagues that it is in the best interests of your caucus, your family, yourself, and the state of Oregon for you to step down from office.”
The letter comes the same day House Speaker Tina Kotek introduced a resolution to expel state Rep. Nearman -- and appears to eliminate any doubt that the resolution would pass if put before the full House.
