It is also worth noting that www.skepticalscience.com is nothing of the sort. Expect half the story, at most.

You believe the 97% thing is not accurate. OK.
It's not quite OK. There's no need to BELIEVE, that's your turf.

The 97% thing is KNOWN to be inaccurate, aka spin, aka deception. Just like the 13000 peer reviewed or maybe not peer reviewed 'articles' chosen using a strawman argument from a cherry picked time interval (codswallop) agw spin can be examined and at that point, reality becomes apparent.

The bogus 97% arose when Cook considered published papers using a definition that mankind had caused most post-1950 warming. On this basis the true consensus among published scientific papers has been demonstrated to be only 0.3% not 97.1% as Cook had claimed. Only 41 out of the 11,944 published climate papers Cook examined explicitly concluded that mankind caused most of the warming since 1950. That's not 97%.

Another survey claiming the same 97% result is also wrong. The Doran survey result came from 10,256 questionnaires with only 3,146 respondents, those responses were then whittled down to 75 out of 77 “expert” ’active climate researchers’ (chosen by the survey people) to give another bogus 97% consensus figure.

Out of interest, folks may like to guess (or remind others) which advocacy website with a misleading name was founded circa 2007 by Australian "cognitive scientist" Cook.

Anyway...as another attrition loop bites the dust, one more will be along soon.

Possibly even more troublesome than a bunch of duffers on a motoring website:

Dr Tim Ball said:
The media reported the divide as a political difference, a product of the Cold war. In fact, the divide continues with Russia and China consistently offering different views and challenging more extreme claims in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Reports. Of course, as long as they are listed as “developing nations,” they always vote for a transfer of wealth as set out in the Kyoto Protocol and its replacement, the Green Climate Fund.
From:

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/11/25/is-climate-...

Note that this has not been provided for a discussion of the underlying science, more as support for differing opinions split on geopolitical lines.

Zygalski I rarely post here and fall into neither category that appear offering such opposing views in this thread. I'd love to be convinced one way or the other but I find it difficult to navigate my way through the vast array of info on this subject, in any concise way. My main stumbling block in joining the 97%ers is this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHFfOOF-6Fs

I'd be very appreciative if you could watch this video and explain to me why I should then be convinced of the 97% view?

Please bear in mind, it is highly unlikely this White House Senate debate is conducted by people who hang out in the darker corners of the PH sub forums. I would genuinely like to hear your considered view on this video.
Hi.
An interesting series of articles about how Easterbrook cherry-picked and misrepresented the IPCC data to fit his agenda:
https://www.skepticalscience.com/don-easterbrook-h...
interesting how some people denigrate some of the links provided here by "deniers" yet are willing to get their information from people like the snivelling whiny snot nosed dana nuticelli ,himself in the pay of "big oil " at least at one point.both him and mr cook the cartoonist take belief to the absolute heights of fanaticism ,way beyond any position from anyone on the genuine sceptic side.

i have said it before and i will say it again, you have the patience of a saint. understandable having to post the same information to someone quoting the 97% consensus for the first time, but i believe you have posted this refutation at least once in reply to durbs. yet we hear it is the "deniers" that have nothing new to offer.

for me when people ask the question i just tell them to ask where the tropospheric hotspot is. apparently they are still looking for it, forgetting it should have been present for at least the last twenty years. reality is a bh if you are a climate scientist.

No climate scientist is 'my man' as I don't post appeals to authority, the person you speak of was the source of DATA (not belief) that I was asked to source...and did. Unlike the habits of your men wink e.g. Jones, Mann et al I will provide sources including data if I possibly can. Another of 'your men', Houghton ex-head of IPCC, reckons that emissions controls will save the planet from mankind's greed and indifference. Ho Ho Ho.

Godwin chinny reckoned your faith in SkepticalJunkscience exceeds Moses' in magnitude and suggested a reply in kind, examining individuals connected with a link.

Never had a satisfactory answer (or an answer at all, really) as to why Trump's climate experts have passed this information to Pruitt and he has made his judgement:
https://youtu.be/UBybnYN8ki4?t=495
Pruitt said in his press conference, defending Trumps withdrawal from the Paris agreement:
'I indicated that in fact, global warming is occurring, that human activity contributes to it, in some manner'.

Now if Trump's climate guru had come out against AGW, you lot would have been all over that like a rash.
Seems like this is another inconvenient truth and perhaps Trump's team are another bunch our resident PH climate experts have added to the global conspiracy supporting the AGW hoax perpetrated upon us all?

Not sure about the Zimbabwe lot, maybe they're more democratic than the rest, but the fact is that activists who elbow their way onto committees and then claim to speak for entire bodies do not do so. As evidenced by an IPCC Lead Author, there have been strong disagreements in IPCC meetings with people stomping out of rooms when their pet theory is questioned.

Funding considerations in terms of grant largesse and financial viability may also have a role to play. In the UK, according to a ministerial reply in Hansard, there is no public funding available for research aiming to refute agw, in contrast to the largesse available for agw disciples to get more pal-reviews on the go.

The fact also remains that it's your opinion that opinions matter, that appeals to non-consensus bunk (as above) matter, that appeals to authority bunk (as above) matter. And above all, your opinion - namely that it's (only) my esteemed opinion - is bunk as well. It's not my opinion, it's what the data is saying and what many scientists are aware of.

Have you verified that your list, from wherever it was sourced, is genuine?

Have you validated that all of those organisations exist and are valid non-political scientific research bodies?

Have you researched and verified the areas of expertise of the people involved?

Have you assessed any papers on the subject of Climate Change that the members of the bodies have published?

Have you done any due diligence to ensure to your satisfaction that these organisations are not just political in nature?

What is your expert analysis of their statement positions? Comments about political action recommended would be especially welcome on this thread.

How about answering the question, and not doing the typical Politicians response to a question he can't answer, change the subject. Now back to the question I asked.
Think you'll find I asked my question first, about 5 months ago.
What incentive is there for Trump to pull out of the Paris agreement, but at the same time accept that AGW is a fact?
Answers please...
You've swerved again! Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHFfOOF-6Fs and post your comments for all to see here. Simple task. Get on with it.
We must wait while agw advocacy sites are consulted to find the party line.

The irony is strong yet again with that trite carping 'answered 5 months ago' ffs that's nothing. I've answered every element of any and all believer attrition loop nonsense starting 15 years ago but believers loop on and on and on. And on.

Believers however cannot answer the most fundamental of points that destroy agw: absence of an anthropogenic forcing visible in TOA radiative imbalance, absence of a visible causal human signal in global climate (temperature) data even diddled data. Not one of those pointlessly copied and pasted organisations can point to either of these, they don't exist.

What believers are left with is believing in invisible entities. Awesome!
