Lib-Dems are part of our Government, once in Government Coalition we have had to compromise our Manifesto in the interests of the Country.
Any Party can draw up a wish list and call it a Manifesto in the 100% certain knowledge they will not be elected. Its what UKIP are doing.
And what the LibDems did in 2010. And now they have been found out.

And can I ask why the LibDem manifesto was not in the best interests of the country before you got into the coalition? What would you have intentionally done that was not in the best interest of the UK?

Taken up office?

Thankfully in spite of mouthy posturing from has-beens like Vince Cable and Never-Wases like Danny Alexander they are on the margins whining about social bks and wanting to soak the 'rich' which is at least something they are very good at (whining). Now they want us to vote for the Oxfam Party.

Of course we will, not.

One poll from a Tory loving newspaper hardly makes an emphatic point. The Labour Party are in disarray with no clear policies, hardly opposition. How desperate some must be to see some credibility in a very minor party which in reality would be a frightening prospect if they were ever elected. I would imagine that 70% (guess) have lost confidence in any political party at the moment. UKIP, Lord help us!
Have you a better answer then voting for a party that i agree with?

Who should i vote for instead of UKIP?

It's a independent poll. Polling companies' entire business depends on their being seen to be independent.
Stating the bloody obvious now. As I point out its one poll and at this stage of the game is not of particular importance, other then to stroke the ego's of those that enjoy this type of thing.
You know very well that you implied that it was a biased poll.

Nice to see a new offer from the government excluding "low paid" NHS workers from increases in pension contributions.

"Low paid" is apparently less than £26,500 p.a.

yikes

So I would need to earn another five grand a year to be classed as not low paid, and yet I run two cars, manage 7 people and manage to pay for my own measly pension while paying for these "low paid" workers' pensions too. I must be a financial genius.

"Low paid" indeed.

laugh

(and yes I understand politically exactly why they've done this...)

Perhaps I should go on strike, oh yeah I forgot, I'm not a .

But do you think anyone earning under £26,500 is "low paid", because the BBC reported it as such?

Only if anyone earning over £26.5k is reported as "high paid". Probably has something to do with BBC policy of balanced reporting hehe

It just goes to show how spinless Cameron really is.

We need to reduce the deficit, and we need to do it quickly. As soon as the Eurozone crisis is sorted (one way or the other) attention will turn to the UK.

If the European summit manages to reassure the markets (which I think is unlikely), then the UK's finances could come under scrutiny as early as next week.

Something around the middle. With the average amount of outgoings your £1600-1800 will be enough to run a car, share a mortage and bills but with no room for much else.
You clearly manage on 21k but I am guessing you don't live around London and have 1k a month on a mortgage / rent to pay.

According to this news story the ONS say the average salary is £26,244 http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/nov/23/uk-hou...

So the BBC has to be wrong, or whoever told them 26.5 is low is wrong. It can't be low and above the average can it?

Depends what you mean (har har) by average.

Mean, median or mode.

Most people tend to mean "mean".

Great thread.

I've just heard we are getting no salary rise this year. I had only inflation matching last year, and the year before was pretty poor.

I've pretty much had no salary rise in three years when you look at inflation.

I don't whinge, I just get off my arse and work harder. I've started working on evenings and weekends to get the extra money I want in life. Not expecting people to just give me it.

There are some real work shy buggers around. No one deserves anything except what they are willing to work hard for!

Well, I don't want to get into the depths of it here as it is not appropriate.

However, there are elements with which I have issues, but I can vote with my feet if I am not happy after some private discussion...

Ie, maybe we could have had inflation beating rises, with reward in line with what we have achieved, if certain other company activities had been curbed in line with sensible austerity measures initially.

Hmmmm

Who decides that?

I look at my employer, and weigh up the evidence before me and I decide that for myself, not relying on external influences, be those union or journalist hysteria.

I wouldn't rely on your employer being honest either.
