A senior North Korean official has dismissed remarks by US Vice-President Mike Pence as "stupid", casting further uncertainty about a planned meeting between the two countries' leaders.

I'd like to point out this sentence

"Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have the long-planned meeting"

The problem is Kim, for all his issues, and there are lots, has not done this, neither has his cohorts. They just responded saying they didn't want to be told what to do before the talks.

It is Donald Trump who does the tremendous anger and open hostility in his tweets day in and day out.

May 24, 2018. We live in a world where Kim Joo Kim seems to be the sensible one.

That is not right. frown

The worrying thing is Trump is right in saying he carries the big stick. We don't wan't someone like that continually threatening. This is nuclear gunboat diplomacy.

Not a good thing.

Choe Son-hui said the North would not "beg" for dialogue and warned of a "nuclear showdown" if diplomacy failed.

Choe Son-hui has been involved in several diplomatic interactions with the US over the past decade. She is one of Kim Jong-un's top aides and analysts say her statement will have been sanctioned by the leader himself.

It came days after Mr Pence warned that North Korea "may end like Libya" - where then-leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed by rebels in 2011 after renouncing nuclear weapons eight years earlier.
Ms Choe, in an article carried by the state news agency KCNA on Thursday, said Mr Pence had made "unbridled and impudent remarks".
She added: "As a person involved in US affairs, I cannot suppress my surprise at such ignorant and stupid remarks gushing from the mouth of the US vice-president.

"Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behaviour of the United States."

ah right, so some guy (not Kim) called Vice President Mike Pence as a "political dummy", which was because of the Libya comments.

this is what happens when kids are left in charge... of both sides.

Seems sensible to me, rather than leaving it to the diplomats Pence stuck his oar in with claiming they will end up like Libya.

Great thinking, the reason always the North Korea Junta KEEPS their nuclear weapons is because they do not want to end up like Libya.

Well done Mike Pence, the most ineffectual VP of all time so far. Mind you that's why his boss chose him.

He needs to stop sticking his foot in (mouth) though and let others get on with it who are paid to do the job.

Here is my list of all the good things Mike Pence has done as VP, starting at #1

1.

Ok, got to make a cup of tea and think about it. Back later.

It's not the end of talks. Each party has stormed off after a bit of a row to cool down.

Give it a couple of months and communication will start up again.

Yes, just part of the negotiating plan. If there's a peace gift of something gigantic as a gesture of goodwill (probably the biggest ever pork pie) then they'll all be friends again.

It’s annoying because they had a deal and everything counts really.

Trumps handshake seals the contract from the contract, there's no turning back. The turning point of his career in Korea, is him being insincere.

The holiday was fun packed but the contract isn’t still intact.
