Maybe that's the point, instead of being a discussion it turned into a soapbox for Byker28i.
No one had to join, participate or view the thread, it was an individual choice. It is clear it was closed down by complainants afraid of what was being said and partial moderation.

If you don't like a thread don't watch or join, don't be like the kid that takes their ball home because they are losing.
I have never hit the report button in all the time I have been here, life is to short, I was just expressing an opinion on a possible reason for the ban.

Returning to a point I previously made, do you really consider less than 5% of the posts on this thread to be a "soapbox"? Seems a bit unreasonable. 7% of the posts on the GB News thread are from me, presumably that's also my "soapbox"?

This.

BTW, anyone know of any good alternatives to PH?
This is the condurum. As what makes PH forums good is the wide range of opinions, which probably better reflect the average UK citizen vs more strictly moderated forums.

However it seems to me it’s increasingly pandering to any ever smaller niche who presumably report less. So losing that key advantage.

MX5 and byker is the visible tip of the iceberg, I suspect.

Adding my voice to say that banning Byker with no warning and no opportunity to amend errant behaviour was a terrible piece of moderation.

PH need to decide whether being a hub for anti-vaxers, conspiracy theorists and loons is a good look for their business.

Another frequent reader and occasional poster here disappointed at the seemly cowardly moderating by quoting a rule as to why someone was banned, when it has nothing to do with the reason given and shows the correct procedures were not followed by the mods. This thread was my go to thread with my morning cuppa and my main reason to visit the site

As with all statistics timescale is important, my reference was concerning only the last few months .
Ultimately ìts all irrelevant as the moderators decision is final, irrespective of our own views.

I think they've said this is under discussion, haven't they?

Hopefully, we will hear from them before too long about what's happened.

I'm adding my support here too, I don't post very often, but I have been reading this thread almost daily and the main reason for my visit here. I'm sure there are probably many other silent lurkers. This seems like a very odd decision to me, but I guess not for us to question.

For clarity with Byker28i - they have not been banned from PH, but were put in the Sin Bin for me to have a word with today. I appreciate a couple of days may feel like an eternity with fast moving threads such as this, but they're now out of the bin and able to post again.

So time to move on and get things back on track with the thread please, no need for any further derailment.

Thanks Ben. Could you clarify whether they way Byker28i posts news articles is still acceptable though? It'll avoid any further confusion about Rule 16...

Any chance you and the others could drop the insults tagged onto the emails informing people of a ban?

What do you think it adds to allow an anonymous dig like that with no right of reply?

You may want to have a word with yourself also. Allowing utter garbage that's gone on in this and other threads, then banning a valuable contributor. Not cool. At all...

Copying and pasting copy from another site is in breach of rule 16 and is not acceptable, however I will ask our legal team if we're able to provide any more clarity on this rule. If anything changes, we'll update the rules of posting and alert forum users of the change.

I most certainly don't add insults to any action and if this is being done, would urge anyone to send this to me at info@pistonheads.com for investigation.

For clarity, Byker28i has not been banned. If the utter garbage you're referring to is a breach of our rules of posting (and not just your opinion) then please feel free to use the report function for us to investigate.

Thanks. "Utter garbage" refers to the lies and misinformation disseminated by those who appear to have nefarious motives or are just badly-informed.

Personally I'm not invested enough to report anybody, and life's too short.

Have you reviewed Byker28's ban on the Biden thread? Because you should...

Ben can you clarify if pasting copy from other sites included screenshots if it does you may want to look at the flight radar thread as it is nothing but screenshots of another websites content and it has been going on for years

Byker28i's been posting excerpts from the linked sites in the same way for 5+ years, but was sin binned for it.
If PH are now going to enforce Rule 16 (which they're perfectly entitled to do - it's their forum) , wouldn't it be a good idea to clearly communicate that to posters, rather than block one over the weekend with no warning?
