Who'd like to see Jordan Peterson make an appearance on QT? Though after the Newman interview I don't think he'll be let anywhere near our MSM ever again.

I haven't checked that - but is that true?

Can anyone here think of any redeeming reasons why there must always be a member of the panel who is an actor / poet / comedian etc?

I can only assume it’s an attempt to bring some lighter moments of levity in between the more serious political responses from the rest of the panel.
As valid as any non-politico even without crossover. Chatting on such a stage can daunt most, probably helps with polticos just repeating catchphrases and coming across as dozy. Biz sorts usually have their finger on the pulse of what's going on since a lot of theatre/film etc reflects issues of the day, and have travelled around, chatted to loads, heard loads. After show it's not uncommon to chat in the bar about what the show was about.

I saw on DP last week that Italy was number 4, I was mildly surprised, but I guess someone has to be in Europe after the big three. Russia isn't big enough for the G7, that's been the case for years.

Ive heard it quoted a number of times. And think about it: when was the last time you saw something-anything in the shops with "made in russia" on it.

Apart from oil, gas and arms it only has a national economy. And lada, which still sells well in Russia, is owned by Renault

I've a lot of respect for Brian Cox, he's played some superb roles but tonight he came across as a bumbling incoherent idiot.
Yep, talented actor. Deep political thinker/commentator? Not so much.

I had to laugh when he started banging on about a Russian 'rogue element'.

Memo to Brian: they shut down Treadstone.

The reason they get the media types on is they're the only idiots that think themselves important enough to have a valid point of view that everyone should listen to and obey.

Most normal people realise that without living and breathing the political subjects, or indeed a specific speciality, they're going to be out of their depth.

I think you’re getting Peter mixed up with his late brother Christopher who, when asked about his brother, said something along the lines of “odd man, every family has one”.

Bullseye.

Nope.
I've listened to his bro, very confident and outspoken but Peter is pretty good too

This is a great interview between Owen Jones - before he went full Corbyn potato - and Peter Hitchens. Quite illuminating and I got the impression that Owen quite liked him by the end of the interview.

I thought that was common knowledge?

They have a similar GDP to Spain, but with 3 times the population.

Given the size of their population it's pretty crap.

Towards the end of the Cold War Russia had an economy half the size of the USA. Now it's roughly a tenth the size of the US. Russia is pretty poor and they are only heading one way relative to the major economies of the world.

TD, the loss to the world of comedy is N, P & E's gain.

Shami Chakrabati has long wound me up; much as I hate TLAs, she is almost a caricature of the SJW. And, Baroness Chakrabati, great job on the report into anti-semitism in the Labour Party. Oh, you weren't a Baroness before submitting your report? Who knew...
