Yeah right. I thought these things would carry demolition charges for situations such as this. Wonder why they weren't triggered..

The shield not showing the underside would suggest they didn't get control or enough control the get the gear down for a landing ?
Really quite intriguing, lets hope the septics dont have a sense of humour and do tell all.

it will be comparable to drones already developed/ under development in China, Russia and Iran. Obviously they wont pass the opportunity to have a good poke about, but it is not going to advance anything in their arsenal considerably.

I know... and it reminded me of these mock ups from last year. Perhaps he has seen them.

China will be all over this.....

Remember that Pilot "Wang Wei", who went the wong way whilst buzzing a carrier based EP-3 forcing it to land in China (an island I think).

The feckers had that thing striped in 20 mins.

They will want to get there before Russia and will probably pay Iran a small fortune to take it off their hands.

Iran are doing rather well. That's two rubber boats and a drone so far rolleyes

If it does the job... It's certain;ly a small target, and if it gives intel, what is the issue?

Yes, I fully understand that. It was the whole piece that got me really, compared to the US approach to this sort of warfare, it seemed a tad low tech. Having said that, in view of the current US drone loss it looks pretty cost effective. But as the soldier said, [sic] a toy plane controlled with an x-box console.

that's the point... it wasn't shot down

Iranians claim "cyber warfare/ signal intercept and block"

American claim drone malfunction

Either way it landed smoothly and safely

The report says the craft will attempt to land itself if it needs too and that would be my guess as to what happened.
