Anybody feeling sorry for the shark, you do realise that at the first opportunity it would bite you in half, tear the pieces into bloody, splintered shreds, gorge them and then st you out all over the ocean?

Apparently in an interview he said words tot eh effect of "I work for a childrens charity. You'd think they would be praising me as it was children I saved and yet they have sacked me". He had been signed off for a year.

I would have thought going on holiday was a good cure for stress and something doctors would recommend.

He probably has grounds for a tribunal

"If I hadn't gone in to save the kids on that beach that day my wife and I would still have a job."

No, you would still be sitting on your arse while your employer (a charity) has to pay you!

I kind of agree, but its a bit of a coincidence that his wife is off too and they have both been signed off long enough to take a 2 month holiday!

Why is it only ever public sector type workers that have massive amounts of time off for stress? As far as I can make out they have shorter hours than private sector workers and don;t have the sword of damocles hanging over them if they are crap at their job.

Plus if they can afford 2 months in Australia they must be the richest people in Merthyr by some margin smile

He was on Radio 2 today, apparently the accommodation was provided FOC by friends.
He sounded plausible, but I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye......

maybe another perspective:

it was the holiday of a lifetime, saved up for many months beforehand and booked ages in advance. Maybe months in advance before the job got very strssful

So then you are signed off with stress. What to do now?

Not go on holiday on principle, stay at home ans try and get a refund for no real reason, or go (holidays are known to help relieve stress, etc etc)

Just a thought....
