"Fight back" against what?
Rightly or wrongly, a perception.

Really? Isn't it a bit obvious considering who the Germans are protesting about and who is carrying out the French attacks? Are you really that dense?

12,000 people marched in a counter demonstration in Munich so has the European fight back against the fight back begun?

Possibly.

Is marching relevant, beyond the benefit of getting some exercise? It would be interesting to know how many people not marching due to health, family, employment or business reasons support those participating in any particular march, one of those known-unknowns. It could be that the unemployed, students and the semi-professionally agitated are over-represented in many marches...or not.

Well seeing as these having been going on since October and steadily growing then maybe it has. More march for than against. Who knows, it was just an observation that it appears to be spreading and getting organised.

I suspect some people are feeling threatened all over Europe, not everyone but enough, and are feeling that if they speak out then they are instantly branded racist. I suspect further that this may become a growing trend.

French officials say the motive behind the attack is not clear.
Pretty sure if they asked some ordinary people in the area most would be pretty clear on what the motive is, it's not rocket science.

1970s &80's Northern Ireland would be an example; and they were only arguing about the precise flavour of imaginary friend!
No they weren't, the very last thing they were arguing over was Holy Water, Celibacy and the existence of Purgatory.

N. Ireland was/still is all about politics and in particular Nationality and perceived social injustice/discrimination. The 2 Religions are easily reconciled, its the other stuff thats the problem.
As a child growing up with a Irish Catholic father and a Protestant mother in Glasgow in the 1970s; where both were disowned for many years by their families, I would suggest that the two religions were a major fking part of it.

I don't disagree with you that politics formed a significant part, as did the gangland/black economy that grew out of the conflict but I am afraid I disagree with you from personal experience.

French moslems usually prefer to set cars on fire in rioting that goes on for weeks on end, not drive them into people.

Not that it's reported here of course, until it lasts over a month. That would be "unhelpful".

Normally 100 a week burned by youths, Isn't it iirc the story correctly

When rioting they step up to hundreds a day. Over 8000 in 5 weeks during the riots. 1000 every New Years eve.

"
In announcing the New Year’s Eve tally on Jan. 2, Interior Minister Manuel Valls also revealed that figures provided by fire, police and insurance officials indicate that somewhere between 42,000 and 60,000 automobiles are intentionally torched in France every year. The majority of those go up in smoke in or near the disadvantaged suburban housing projects located outside most French cities"

Not that long ago "French" fans were booing & whistling throughout the French national anthem at a friendly football match with Tunisia - in front of President Sarkozy. He was livid and their sports minister had to come out and say that if it happened again, the game would be cancelled. This usually happens when they play a north African side.

President Chirac was suitably incandescent when this happened at the French football cup final back in 2002 as well, although that was mostly from supporters of Bastia (i.e. Corsicans).

If the recent “Allahu akbar” attacks in France were all simply manifestations of “mental illness,” why are French authorities deploying soldiers in city centres? Are they afraid that the whole country is going crazy?
Well they are French!
I'm not sure how "French" the Ackbars are, but the French have already surrendered to them anyway: http://sig.ville.gouv.fr/Atlas/ZUS/

Just wait until they get really pissed off and deploy 2e REP on to the streets. Just watch the rioters run then.
