Probably the only decent thing Cameron has done regarding immigration is over the Syria crisis, trying to ensure people are fully vetted before arriving and are being taken from the camps near the affected area rather than just allowing folk in and worrying about the consequences after the fact.

It's more than that though. If people do still manage to have children (which, barring genital mutilation will remain a possibility regardless of birth control ) what happens to the illegal child? The only way to enforce the law would be at the detriment of a child that hasn't done anything wrong.

I am still to this day at a loss as to why we do not have a proper form of testing for anyone wanting to come into this country on a semi permanent or permanent basis.
Something along the lines of Americas citizenship.. but for a country with a generally higher IQ.......

FredClogs made an utterly pointless and sarcastic statement, and several posters including myself chastised him for it.

His 'point' regarding us complaining about immigration numbers whilst buying 'foreign' items is completely and utterly irrelevant. Every country imports/buys things from each other, and this has precisely zero to do with immigration/migration.

So in short, I have no idea why he bothered to post it.

Well, you laugh about the Americans, but at least they have a strict immigration system.

If you or I wanted to move to the US next week and find a job, we simply wouldn't be able to do it. The only way we would be allowed in is if we made a huge financial contribution to the country, married a citizen, or were invited there by a company who have proved that our skills are so vital that they can't get them from a citizen already living there.

Yes, they have a lot of illegal immigrant, but that's a separate matter of the current laws now being enforced correctly for various reasons.

This has nothing to do with other races. Pure numbers, even an expat family coming back after 20 years living elsewhere. If the place is full, its full. They, equally, shouldn't be allowed back in as they'd put exactly the same demands on the system as any A.N.Other from any other country.

I think we lack housing and infrastructure to support everyone and much of the population and economy is packed into the SE of England.

So I don't know if we are 'full' or not. However I don't think it is unreasonable to attempt to reduce the number of people coming here until we have got a grip on the lack of affordable housing, decent schools, hospital beds and so on.

Checks ARE made on those who wish to settle here from outside the EU - that's another problem, we can't deny access to any non contributors from the EU but those from outside it who want to apply legitimately and have something to offer have many a hoop to jump through.
